  • Minnesota Wild vs Columbus Blue Jackets: Game 55

    Guest

Time to put up or shut up. In the past week, the Wild have lost to the last place team, and lost to a favorite for the Cup. Their coach is livid, a player has been sent packing, practice scrubbed for a long team talk. Now, again facing the last place team, the coach and GM want a response.

Teams that feel embarrassed are dangerous. How many times have the Wild faced a team coming off a pounding and wound up on the receiving end of a statement game? This is the Wild's chance to return the favor. Should the Wild lose tonight, I am not sure I would want to be one of the guys in the roster. Maybe that's just me.

Mike Yeo wants the Wild to play without fear of failure, to play the way they played in November. He's not the only one. 18,000+ inside the X want to see exactly the same thing.

The Jackets are not going to simply give the Wild their confidence winning game. The Wild still have a history of struggles against the Jackets. Rick Nash is still on the ice. They still scored just one goal against a weak goalie with a lack of protection from his defense. They still have scored just five goals in the past four games. Nothing on the roster has really changed.

The change needs to happen between the ears of the players, not between the pages of the roster.

Should the Wild come out with a warrior's ferocity, the Jackets would be in a great deal of trouble. However if the Wild come out hard, and then let of the reigns, it will just be more of the same.

Enjoy the game folks. No matter what, it's still hockey.
