The Minnesota Wild announced Thursday that they have sent forwards Mario Lucia and Christoph Bertschy to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for defenseman Victor Loov.
Lucia was Minnesota's second-round draft pick in 2011 but has not reached the NHL level yet in his pro career. He played parts of three seasons with the Iowa Wild, scoring 41 points (17G-24A) in 93 games.
Bertschy was a sixth-round pick in the 2012 draft, appearing in nine games with Minnesota over the past three seasons. He was named an alternate captain of the Iowa Wild at the beginning of the season by head coach Derek Lalonde, as he tallied 17 points (8G-9A) in 45 games.
Loov, 25, was a 2012 seventh-round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs and was dealt to New Jersey in February 2017. For Binghamton -- New Jersey's AHL affiliate -- this season, Loov tallied 17 points (5G-12A) in 36 games. Loov will report to Iowa, which kicks off a five-game homestand Friday night against Chicago.
With the move, Minnesota is below the max number of contracts in the organization (50), with the last one speculated to go to Jordan Greenway upon the completion of Boston University's season next month.
