The rumors and reports have been coming for a while that the newest Minnesota Wild sweater would be a throwback to the days of the North Stars. Tuesday, the Wild all but confirmed those reports with a single tweet...
Yes, it appears that the Wild (along with every NHL team) will be getting a “Reverse Retro” style alternate jersey from Adidas for the 2020-21 season, with the official designs released on Monday, November 16th.
But now that we have some idea of what the back will look like, what about the front? Will it be the classic bear logo? Some kind of North Stars-esque M with a star? Will the script Minnesota be making a return?
It’s only speculation, but the Wild did release a background graphic for smartphone users in late October with a green script Minnesota on a light colored background...
Granted, those are not the same colors as Tuesday’s teaser, so no one knows for sure if the two tweets are related. But, along with the announced 20th anniversary patch, it’s another potential piece of the third jersey puzzle.
The Athletic’s Michael Russo mentioned in a notes blog recently that the Wild would not only announce a jersey in short order, but that it would be fully released and for sale by the end of November. So stay tuned to Hockey Wilderness for further alternate sweater news as it’s released.
Updated with release date of Adidas’ Reverse Retro jersey catalog on Monday, Novemeber 16th.
