It was very interesting to be at the Wild Ducks game and see Marian Gaborik sit the last three minutes when the game was still within reach. Jacques Lemaire was definitely sending Gaborik a message. Throughout the game, I noticed that Gaborik was not skating very hard. I feel like if he actually played half as hard as someone like Stephane Veilleux, he would be the best player in the NHL.
What is alarming to me is that it is starting to look like Marian Gaborik doesn’t have what it takes inside to take the next step to be one of the NHL’s elite players. I hope that he wakes up because you know that your coach is unhappy with your play when Derek Boogaard gets more ice time at the end of a 4-2 game.
