  • Matthew Boldy, Marshall Warren invited to U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp

USA Hockey announced Tuesday the full list of players invited to this year’s U.S. National Junior Team Evaluation Camp. Two of them are Minnesota Wild prospects — forward Matthew Boldy and defenseman Marshall Warren.

Boldy, selected in the first round (No. 12 overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, was outstanding for the Americans as an alternate captain in the 2020 U-18 competition, collecting three goals and 12 points in seven games. With a strong camp, the 19-year-old should have a very good shot at making the final roster and competing in the upcoming World Juniors.

The 6’2, 194-pound winger didn’t get off to the best start as a freshman at Boston College last season. He managed just a single point — a goal — in his first 11 collegiate games. From there, though, Boldy was an absolute stud for the Eagles. He posted eight goals and 25 total points in his final 23 games of the season, ending his freshman campaign as one of Boston College’s top forwards.

Warren was also selected in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft (though much later than his BC and U-18 teammate), picked by the Wild in the seventh round (No. 166 overall). The 5’11, 163-pound defenseman out of Laurel Hollow, NY earned three assists in seven games of the 2020 U-18 tournament, but stepped up his offensive game in his first year at Boston College, leading all Eagles defensemen with six goals and finishing the COVID-shortened season with 11 points.

USA Hockey’s evaluation camp will be held in Plymouth, Michigan from October 8-13. The 2021 World Junior Championship, which will be held in an Edmonton bubble, is scheduled to run from December 25 to January 5.

Update: Includes information on Minnesota Wild prospect Marshall Warren.
