  • Matt Dumba fined $5,000 for slashing Ryan Reaves in the you-know-where

    Guest

Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba’s wallet is going to be a little bit thinner this afternoon.

Around the midway point of Minnesota’s tilt against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, Dumba slashed Golden Knights forward Ryan Reaves in a, uh, pretty sensitive area. The incident came in response to a questionable hit along the end boards that Dumba was none too pleased with.

As a result, the NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday that Dumba has been fined $5,000 for the slash to Reaves’ midsection.

Dumba makes $6 million per year, so this $5,000 fine shouldn’t do much noticeable damage to his bank account. Still, Dumba was lucky not to have been assessed a penalty for the infraction. In the future, he may not be quite as fortunate.
