  • Iowa Wild Weekly Report: November 24th

The Iowa Wild played three games in three nights this week, starting with a game in Rockford on Friday. Iowa began the scoring on a power play goal by Tyler Graovac from Michael Keranen. The teams alternated goals in the second with Iowa's two goals coming from Justin Falk and Kurtis Gabriel. Finally, Rockford scored the lone goal in the third period to take this game to overtime where they scored the overtime game winner. Iowa was significantly outshot on Friday (25 to 41) and still managed to pull a point out of the night, which is an improvement off the month of October. Here are the game highlights of the

On Saturday, Iowa played against the Chicago Wolves and jumped out to a two goal lead, off two power play tallies: the first by Zack Phillips and the second by Jonathon Blum, both assisted by Keranen and Graovac. But the Wolves scored the next three goals to defeat Iowa in regulation.

They returned home on Sunday to play against the Milwaukee Admirals, a game which remained scoreless until seventeen minutes into the third period. Tyler Graovac scored after Admirals' goaltender Hellberg came far out of the net to poke the puck away from Schroeder on a breakaway. The gamble worked at first, until Graovac followed up on the play and the Admirals' defenseman Bitetto could not save the shot. But after almost an entire scoreless game, Milwaukee tied the game with less than a minute to play. The game finally ended in a shootout with Zack Phillips scoring the only marker.

This weekend saw the Wild gaining points again, and while they are still at the bottom of the Western Conference, they now have a double digit number of points in the standings (11). They still have a lot of ground to make up, but are slowly catching up to teams that built a significant lead on them to start the season.
