The Iowa Wild were beat in their season opener against the Manitoba Moose 3-1. The only one to score for Iowa was Gustav Olofsson who tied the game at 1-1 at 28:51. Alex Tuch in his official AHL debut had an assist. The other assist on the Olofsson goal was Iowa Scott Czarnowczan. The Baby Wild outshot the Moose 29-23. Alex Stalock was in net for Iowa.
The Moose had Nelson Nogier, Quinton Howden and Jack Roslovic score for them. Roslovic, a first round from 2015 had a goal and an assist and was chosen 2nd star of the game. The Moose goalie Eric Comrie was the 1st star with 28 saves on 29 shots. Gustav Olofsson was the 3rd star.
The Wild’s PP went 0 for 2. They allowed one goal while on the penalty kill but killed off 3 penalties.
On a more positive note the Wild’s Russian prospects have had some good times recently with Dmitri Solokov scoring a hat trick and getting an assist in one game last night. Kirill Kaprizov also had a 2 goal night in the KHL this week, so they’re something to look forward to.
