  • Iowa Wild beat Chicago Wolves to end slide

    Guest

The Iowa Wild finally won! Facing off against current Wild assistant coach John Anderson's and current Iowa player Pat Cannone's old team, Iowa was really looking to end their losing streak and coach Derek Lalonde had to make some tough line-up decisions and before the game it was announced that he had made a shocking decision, to scratch Kurtis Gabriel. With the Wild's best and everyone's favorite prospect out of the line-up how could they win?

I just have to wonder how difficult it was for Lalonde to decide that to wake up his team he had to scratch the enforcer, when the norm is to dress the enforcer when you try to shake thing up

Alex Tuch started the scoring when he got his 3rd of the year 14 minutes in. He intercepted a pass at the blue line and got in all alone and didn't miss. Jeff Hogan make it 2-0, one and a half minutes left in the first with Teemu Pulkkinen extending his points streak to 6 games with an assist on the goal.

In the second Tuch got his second of the game around the halfway point to extend the lead to 3-0. Chicago then gave a comeback a go with Brad Hunt scoring to make it 3-1 but Iowa still outshot the Wolves 12-11 in the second and 12-5 in the first.

Jordan Schmaltz would make it 3-2 7 minutes in to the 3rd but that would be it with Iowa taking the win.

Alex Stalock made a return and started for Iowa after being out with an injury. He made 21 saves on 23 shots to take his second win of the year. Alex Tuch got the first star with 2 goals and Jeff Hoggan got 3rd with Brad Hunt taking the 2nd star for the Wolves. Iowa didn't score on 2 PPs but allowed one goal on 3 PKs. Iowa ended up outhsooting the Wolves 33-23.
