The Iowa Wild have been in action three times since last week. They had a back to back in Lake Erie over the weekend and a home game last night in Des Moines. They went 1-2 on the weekend.

Friday and Saturday nights, they faced the Lake Erie Monsters in Lake Erie. Friday was a 2-1 shootout win for the Wild. Both teams scored their regulation goals in the first period with Steven Kampfer scoring for Iowa and Andrew Agozzino scoring for Lake Erie. John Curry made 33 saves in 65 minutes. The shootout would extend to five rounds with Carson McMillan and Steven Kampfer getting the goals for the Wild. Penalties were even for both teams. Stars of the game were 1. Steven Kampfer, 2. John Curry, 3. Sami Aittokallio.

Saturday night, the Wild would drop the game 2-3 to Lake Erie. Johan Gustafsson would make 29 saves before being pulled for the extra attacker with 1:03 remaining. Lake Erie would score twice in the first period. Kris Foucault brought the Wild within one halfway through the second, but Lake Erie pulled ahead by two again. Brian Connelly would score the final goal for the Wild in the beginning of the third, but they were unable to force overtime or a shootout for the second night in a row. The three stars were all Lake Erie; 1. Colin Smith, 2. Matt Hunwick, 3. Andrew Agozzino.

Tuesday brought them back to Iowa where they faced the Rockford Ice Hogs for a 1-4 defeat. John Curry again made 33 saves. Jonathon Blum had the lone goal for Iowa; the rest was Rockford. The Wild found themselves in penalty trouble in the first and third periods, which is when Rockford took advantage and scored. Game stars were 1. Jeremy Morin (Rockford), 2. Jonathon Blum, 3. John Curry.

Iowa is presently ninth in the Western conference, four points out of a playoff spot. They remain fifth in the Midwest.

Erik Haula and Steven Kampfer have been recalled to the Minnesota Wild as of 2/24. Jake Dowell and Jonathon Blum have been returned to Iowa. Colton Jobke has been called up from the Orlando Solar Bears to the Iowa Wild. Projected call ups may be Stephane Veilleux and John Curry based on the Minnesota Wild Situation according to Russo. If Curry is called up from Iowa, the Iowa Wild have the option of calling up Maxime Clemont or Cody Reichard from Orlando, signing someone to a PTO, or making a trade. Clemont just went to Orlando from the Elmira Jackals where he had won six games this season and lost nine. Career, he is 39-32-4-5-0. Reichard came to Orlando via the Fort Wayne Komets. In Florida, he is 8-1, career 23-13-5-5-1.

Via trade, a report out of the Boston Herald lists goalie Malcolm Subban as potential trade bait. Subban is currently backup to Niklas Svedberg and has played in 21 games. He is ranked seventh in the top AHL goalies. He has a GAA of 2.27 and a SV% of 0.921 to go with his 9-7-3 record. The Bruin's are deep in goal, and it may be some time before Subban's services are needed with the big club on a regular basis. Obviously he's not something they're going to want to give up easily. The cost for Subban is going to be at least one Wild player, if not additional picks and prospects. The Bruins are going to know that goal is an area we are presently struggling in, and if we've got something they want, I wouldn't be surprised if they made an offer.
