Iowa dropped to 5-8-0-0 already when the Charlotte Checkers beat them 4-1 in the second half of a back-to-back. The first period was scoreless with the Checkers outshooting the Wild 11-9 and the first goal came at 16 minutes into the second period when Matt Tennyson scored for Charlotte on the PP. Gustav Olofsson answered just 30 seconds after also with a power play tally. Teemu Pulkkinen and Pat Cannone got the assists.
Then in the 3rd period Matt Tennyson got his 2nd of the night and a few minutes after Clark Bishop made it 3-1 Charlotte. Matt Tennyson then finished off a hat trick wiht an empty netter.
Tennyson with his hat trick obviously got the 1st star, Michael Leighton who made 33 saves on 34 shots for Charlotte was 2nd star and Iowa's Gustav Olofsson got 3rd star with his one goal.
Iowa ended up outshooting the Checkers 34 to 30 and went 1 for 4 with the man-advantage while going 3 for 4 on the penalty kill. Steven Michalek made 26 saves on 29 shots for Iowa.
