First off, thanks to everyone in the Hockey Wilderness community for using our preview post last night as a make-do Gamethread after we failed to post one for the game against the Penguins.
We may not say it enough, but you all rule.
It’s been two years, plenty of roster-shuffling and a rollercoaster of events since the Minnesota Wild have played the New York Islanders. Their last game was a 3-1 loss with the lone Wild goal from Ryan Donato (remember him?), while Devan Dubnyk manned the net.
This will be the first time since his buyout that Zach Parise will face the Wild with his new team, so that adds a little extra pizzaz to a Sunday matchup.
Despite factoring in on the game-tying goal in the dying seconds of regulation, Adam Beckman has been sent back down to Iowa in the AHL. Connor Dewar is sent back with him, as either Mats Zuccarello and/or Rem Pitlick are set to return to the roster tonight.
With seven points in six games this season, the return of Zuccarello would be a welcome addition to a Wild team that has struggled to win in regulation, with only one regulation win in their last eight games.
