  • Game 6 Gamethread: Wild vs. Golden Knights (8 p.m.)

    Guest

The Minnesota Wild dodged the elimination bullet once, but in order to do it again tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights at the Xcel Energy Center, they may need to make some bold changes to the lineup.

    Matt Boldy changes, perhaps?

After the 2018 first-round draft pick participated in morning skate, head coach Dean Evason said in his afternoon presser that the former Boston College forward will be a game-time decision. Reading between the lines, Boldy’s participation will likely hinge on the availability of players like Marcus Foligno and Nick Bonino, who both missed today’s practice. Michael Russo of The Athletic believes that Boldy will not make his debut, but doesn’t sound ready to rule it out completely.

For the Golden Knights, the only player ruled out so far is Brayden McNabb, who is on the COVID list for Vegas. It’s unknown if Tomas Nosek or Max Pacioretty will be available as neither player took part in morning practice, though Patches has been skating on his own per Vegas head coach Peter DeBoer.

As for the goalies, neither team has announced their Game 6 starter. For the Wild, it will almost assuredly be Minnesota’s playoff MVP (so far) Cam Talbot, while the Golden Knights added a bit of intregue at practice by taking both Marc-Andre Fleury and backup Robin Lehner off the ice at the same time. Will Lehner draw in to his first action of the series?

It’s another must win for the Wild. Can they keep their season alive with a strong game at home? Can they look decent in the second period? Will a Bold(y) choice end up being the difference?
