The Minnesota Wild are hosting their divisional rivals for a Sunday matinee.

Incoming to The X is the dreaded Dallas Stars, who have seemingly had the Wild's number the past couple of years. Notably, in the first round of the last playoffs,  but the Wild have a record of 4-4-0 in the last two regular seasons when they face this team. A on-paper stalemate but there have not been a whole lot of dominant victories during that timespan.

Anyway, this is the first meeting between the two teams of this season and it is going to be a real marker for how the Wild season is going. With more players coming back to full health, the Wild don't really have any excuses if they drop the ball.

Head coach Dean Evason has changed the forward lines ever so slightly. Marco Rossi and Matt Boldy have slotted down to the second line, with Kirill Kaprizov reuniting with Ryan Hartman and Mats Zuccarello up top.

    When: 5:00 p.m. CT
    Where: Xcel Energy Center
    TV: Bally Sports North
    Radio: KFAN 100.3

    Projected Wild lineup

Kirill Kaprizov -- Ryan Hartman -- Mats Zuccarello
Marcus Johansson -- Marco Rossi -- Matt Boldy
Marcus Foligno -- Joel Eriksson Ek -- Patrick Maroon
Brandon Duhaime -- Connor Dewar -- Vinni Lettieri

    Jonas Brodin -- Brock Faber
    Jake Middleton -- Jared Spurgeon
    Dakota Mermis -- Zach Bogosian

    Marc-Andre Fleury
    Filip Gustavsson

    Projected Stars lineup

Jason Robertsoon -- Roope Hintz -- Joe Pavelski
Jamie Benn -- Wyatt Johnston -- Evgenii Dadonov
Mason Marchment -- Matt Duchene -- Tyler Seguin
Sam Steel -- Radek Faksa -- Craig Smith

    Ryan Suter -- Miro Heiskanen
    Esa Lindell -- Jani Hakanpaa
    Thomas Harley -- Nils Lundkvist

    Jake Oettinger
    Scott Wedgewood

To be fair though, I’m really not mad if we end up as a bottom 10 team this year and next. It will given time for our young players to develop and some high quality picks for when the buyout shackles come off.

The Wild do a great job of making teams having issues/concerns look great:

    • Stars PP were ranked 29th with 10% — are 3-for-4 tonight
    • Louis Domingue has only play 5 games in the last 4 seasons, and somehow the Wild made him look like an all-star goalies a few games ago

Might be time to come to terms with the last two years post-buy outs was just a bit of luck and players playing beyond their abilities. I'm grateful for the last two seasons, but this is probably a more realistic outcome. Hopefully I'm overreacting and the Wild will go on one of their mid-season runs, but this is bad. Really bad. And now we have a bunch of these guys locked up as the core for the next 2-4 years.

There with you...feeling like the last two seasons were perhaps overachievements, and this season might be an underachievement. Locking up so many players before the season started is definitely a bit confusing....this season/game has been painful to watch so far. They're at least consistently inconsistent...

All of the contracts were a bit confusing, but the Moose one, was downright befuddling. Didn't deserve it in the first place and it was aging poorly before he even signed the damn thing.

100% — it would be a different story if he was the player that pushed the Wild past the first series, but that clearly didn't happen. He's #2 in hits in the NHL, but I'm not sure what the going rate is for $/hit...

Dude was a complete an total liability in the playoffs last year, but hey, GMBG says I'll just give him $4milx4. WTF? Make him play a bit this year and then he may earn a $2milx2 if he was lucky.
