The time has finally come. The Minnesota Wild will be playing a normal, regular season game that actually means something. No more looking for development or seeing what hot prospect will make the jump -- the lineup is set and we are seated.

To open the 2024-25 season, the Wild are hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. All throughout the buildup to this game and what will be present throughout it, is remembering Johnny Gaudreau. It is impossible to really put into words just how emotionally taxing playing this hockey game will be for the visitors, so we don't think we should estimate or really spill a whole lot of digital ink on that aspect of tonight's game.

For the Wild, this roster isn't a whole lot different from last year's. We have the same guys in slightly different roles (like Rossi being on the top line to open the season), and a couple new guys providing some solid foundation like Lauko and Trenin. Other than that, it will be Classic Wild Hockey from here on out for the next several months.

It all starts tonight. We are as pumped as ever.

    When: 7:00 p.m. CT
    Where: Xcel Energy Center
    TV: Bally Sports North, ESPN+
    Radio: KFAN 100.3

    Projected Wild lineup

Kirill Kaprizov -- Marco Rossi -- Mats Zuccarello
Marcus Johansson -- Joel Eriksson Ek -- Matt Boldy
Marcus Foligno -- Ryan Hartman -- Yakov Trenin
Jakob Lauko -- Marat Khusnutdinov -- Frederick Gaudreau

    Jonas Brodin -- Brock Faber
    Jake Middleton -- Jared Spurgeon
    Jon Merrill -- Zach Bogosian

    Filip Gustavsson
    (Marc-Andre Fleury)

    Projected Blue Jackets lineup

Yegor Chinakhov -- Sean Monahan -- Kirill Marchenko
James van Riemsdyk -- Adam Fantilli -- Kevin Labanc
Mikae Pyyhtia -- Cole Sillinger -- Kent Johnson
Zach Aston-Reese -- Sean Kuraly -- Mathieu Olivier

    Zach Werenski -- Ivan Provorov
    Jake Christiansen -- Damon Severson
    Jack Johnson -- Erik Gudbranson

    Elvis Merzlikins
    (Daniil Tarasov)

I've got an issue with how much TV and radio keeps saying how bad Gus was last year. Sure, he was, then we have Flower, who was much worse and completely bulletproof from criticism. Just aggravating.

...nice apple NoJo. He's got this NHL shit figured out on how to give minimal effort and keep a job and continue to get contracts. Hope to god the Wild ship him at the trade deadline regardless of their playoff position.

    Gus is playing well

Trenin Harty Foligno are playing like worse line in NHL - which is likely true

Knut Freddy and Lauko is also bad

Get Kap away from Rossi and Zuccy

Yah I’m not sure Rossi & 97 clicking yet

New league rule: NoJo only gets one year contracts

that tiny line needs either zuccy off or rossi off. or get big buff to forgive MN finally and replace one of the two. i think he tried playing offense in chicago and it sort of worked. imagine buff zuccy and kap. that cat can't be older than zuccy!
