  • Gamethread: Wild vs. Blue Jackets (7:00 p.m.)

    The time has finally come. The Minnesota Wild will be playing a normal, regular season game that actually means something. No more looking for development or seeing what hot prospect will make the jump -- the lineup is set and we are seated.

    To open the 2024-25 season, the Wild are hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets. All throughout the buildup to this game and what will be present throughout it, is remembering Johnny Gaudreau. It is impossible to really put into words just how emotionally taxing playing this hockey game will be for the visitors, so we don't think we should estimate or really spill a whole lot of digital ink on that aspect of tonight's game.

    For the Wild, this roster isn't a whole lot different from last year's. We have the same guys in slightly different roles (like Rossi being on the top line to open the season), and a couple new guys providing some solid foundation like Lauko and Trenin. Other than that, it will be Classic Wild Hockey from here on out for the next several months.

    It all starts tonight. We are as pumped as ever.

    NoJo gets an assist. Dangit, do NOT begin to believe in Johansson. Ogie could have handed it off to Boldy ten-times better than that. NoJo will be dropping his stick and water-ski backchecking before you can say Elite Swede. The highlight shows him fanning on the one-timer. Getting the primary assist on a cycle-pass is not sweet. Boldy unassisted more like it. 

    Don't forget the NoJo no shot, shot attempt. He only taped 3 inches of his blade and needed five.

    First game of the year, okay we'll give NoJo a little wiggle-room. If he starts swinging his stick, and coasting though I'm ready to unleash the memes.

    I tried to start em last year but it was only under the Forums tab. Many times it was just me and somebody ripping on NoJo. 😄

    If I would have known I would have participated...and participated on ripping on NoJo. Kinda frustrated with the gamethread situation last year in that it was more or less promised when they transitioned here. If there are none, I won't read the articles. If there are gamethreads, I'm more likely to read the articles.
