Minnesota Wild assistant coach Scott Stevens has resigned, the team reports.

Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher made the announcement Tuesday afternoon, saying Stevens made the move so he can spend more time with his family. Stevens and his wife Donna have three children: Kaitlin, Kara and Ryan.

Stevens joined thew Wild staff last June after head coach Bruce Boudreau was hired. Stevens was by Boudreau's side as they led the Wild to a 49-25-8 regular season and into the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

"I would like to thank the Minnesota Wild for the great opportunity they gave me," Stevens said. "From the ownership to the coaching staff and players, it was a fantastic experience. I would also like to thank the fans for their great support."

Stevens was an NHL Network analyst before his time with the Wild. He was also an assistant coach with the New Jersey Devils from 2012-14 before being named co-coach of the Devils in December 2014. He's a three-time Stanley Cup champion during his 22 years in the NHL (13 with the Devils).

The Wild haven't started searching for a replacement for Stevens, according to the Star Tribune.

"We thank Scott for the hard work and dedication he provided our team this past season," Fletcher said. "We respect his decision to spend more time with his family and wish him the best in his future endeavors."
