Yurov was deemed to be the prospect MN keeps. 

His adjustment to the NHL has been encouraging. He shoulda got an additional assist last night. 

GMBG is doing alright. MN still the winningest under his tenure despite his many detractors.

Just wait until Yurov has a larger sample size of success, he is gonna be a pitbull. With all the current injuries, just watch him go on a heater and see if it will be impossible to put him back at 13 min a night when everyone is healthy.  This kid is special. Keep him on the ice!!

I still think they get face washed out in first round unless BG gets another ek type that can absorb the beatings of playoff puck and who’s able to execute a hockey play.  Not hating on the boys, just sayin.

And it was only about 20 games ago we were wondering if yurzy could stick with big club.  Answer:

This kid could be good for a decade.  If he gets traded for a rental or somebody over 32 years old, Guerin should be removed from the building.

I also think if Ek is as important as everyone thinks he is, they should not think of trading Stramel either.  And he is someone I bashed for the better part of two years but is looking middle six or to top six potential.

I agree with 100% of this post.  Unfortunately this is an org that already had a top tier d-core and Guerin sold the farm for a d-man (rental?) leaving NoJo and Senko as only viable players to complete its top 6.  Yes Senko has had a pulse for a couple games in a row now.  11 goals last year and zombie thru half this season.

The rumor is the Rangers want Yurov for Trotchek. That or a 1st and Stramel for him.

Yuck.   I'd take Trotchek, but, and this is the Minnesota sports fan fatalist in me,  I don't know that adding him makes us invincible.  He might be a decent add but I like the Schiefele idea better at those prices.  At least he is a more long term prospect.  Take the playoffs out of it, who would trade that kind of package for him in an offseason?  Nobody.  (well maybe BG....)

Otherwise if we get bounced, and some combo of Stramel, Yurov and a first are traded, this team is just a wasteland into the future UNLESS Hughes extends and we just buy our way into relevance with not a ton of cap space.  You'd have to unload Spurgeon and Brodin to clear cap and fill in with Lambos, Spacek, and Jiri and hope somebody good wants to come here in free agency.

 

Think of the incredibly long streak of mediocrity it took to accumulate the young talent and picks, all gone in 18 months.  If you don't hoist a cup you just pulled masterful destruction of your franchise.

The biggest trade chips the Wild have are Wallstedt and Yurov, in that order. I would rather they keep Yurov and move Wallstedt. Wallstedt may be enough to start a conversation/package with New Jersey to unite the Hughes Brothers here in Minnesota (that is a big 'if', but it should be explored).

I see two scenarios:

1) Go all-in now for a top six center, and hope to get through the gauntlet that is Dallas and Colorado. The risk Quinn Hughes doesn't re-sign still exists.

2) Stay the course (maybe add someone for a nominal expense) and go all-in (and then some) during the off season to get Jack and Luke Hughes here ensuring Quinn re-signs. 

Scenario two sets a roster that can compete for a cup for the whole of the contention window, and has center depth of Jack Hughes, Yurov, and Erickson-Ek.

As long shot as scenario two is I prefer that.  I do not believe this group is one undersized 32 yo face off winning grit having center (Vinny t) away from a deep run.  VT is Ryan Hartman 2.0.  Maybe little better at face offs.
