mnfaninnc Verified Member
Katchouk=The Missing Link? How much pull does the elder Hughes have with his 2 brothers? It would be easier to play out his deal and go to Jersey to play with them, however, it might be easier to win a cup here. Could he drag his brothers to MN? I don't know exactly what Guerin has in mind, but my suspicion is that we re-sign this guy. I think he'll like playing with Boldy and Kaprizov, and I think he'll like the tight locker room. By the way, for those keeping score, I'd like to put this up for conversation. The last time an elite player had decided not to re-sign longterm with his Canadian team was Matthey Tkachuk. Florida swooped in and grabbed him. It took a full season to revamp the team, but they then went on 3 great playoff runs. Tkachuk was up for a contract extension that July 1, and immediately was re-signed by Florida. Hughes can't be re-signed until this July 1. Somehow, I think Guerin has an inside track on knowing what the elder Hughes wants and can start talking to his agent. If Hughes is the competitor that Guerin thinks he is, he's in a locker room with the same type of competitors in Boldy and Kaprizov....and Ek. I think you can list Faber in that same conversation. He's never had a Brock Faber as a defensive partner. This could be the special situation he was looking for. Now, if only he knew of a #1C 🤔 I'm thinking our Olympic players need to do some recruiting during the Olympic break. Players can talk in the locker room. Guerin can talk with his American players without saying anything, but Boldy can talk with any of them. So can Faber. Could we see Faber and Hughes as an Olympic pair? Will D. Ness Verified Member
I'm not sure QH wants to go displace his brother Luke in NJ. Actually, doesn't that seem kind of psycho? Why do we entertain this narrative?
FredJohnson Verified Member
New Jersey also has to beat whoever wins the West (if they pull a rabbit out and win the East) in order to win a Cup.

MN Wild win the Stanley Cup, or feds find so much rampant fraud they arrest many of the state politicians and indict on federal charges?

Pablo Verified Member
Can you imagine if all the Hughes boys are playing for the cup in the late spring of ‘26? That would be an INSANE story line. I would bet on the Wild finishing 2nd and beating the stars in 6 games. The Av’s get upset by a hot Mammoth team that then gets whooped by the Wild. Then likely 7 games to send the oilers or knights home. Any way it happens, our Wild are making a deep run this season!!! and then Quinn extends with us thru ‘30.
