Pewterschmidt Verified Member
Sturm is definition of “just a guy”. Even below 50% in the dot when we were sold that he was going to fix that. Boldy is the reason our pk has improved.

Not sure why you kicked on Sturm though. The guy has played the PK really well. He isn't a top line center ..... he is doing his job. When a bad matchup happens he holds serve. He is very good at positional hockey, has good speed, protect the center of the ice and takes away space. He really shores up the depth of our centers.

I know that sturmzy is a lovable guy that chose us and that makes it unpopular to pick on him, but he’s Ben Jones minus 5% FO% +$1.2M AAV. Sturd is more “just a guy” than Jones. P-cringe what does $1.2M matter? If Guerin is going to overpay by 35% (97, Foligno, trenin, etc) every penny counts
mnfaninnc Verified Member
I've liked the play of Sturm since he's been back. He kind of solidified the 4th line and has helped with the PK. I believe it was a good pick up. Since he was traded to Colorado, I thought that 4th line C position has been undersized and not very productive. His strength and speed add to it. Merry Christmas everyone! Also, we just had game 38 last night, and we have matched last season's start in points. Hopefully, now, we don't have to deal with injuries to important players like last season. Let's keep this thing rolling.

I don't disagree than Boldy does a good job on the PK as he is a great all-around player in pretty much any situation, but he's also been on the PK all year when it was still one of the worst in the league so it's not Boldy alone who is doing that. Sturm has helped round out the PK more so it is still good even when guys like Boldy, Ek, etc are resting for a shift. Jones couldn't do that.
