ArizonaWildFan Verified Member
What do the Wild look like when or if they ever get completely healthy? Who are the odd guys out? The Hughes trade reduced the logjam at forward by shipping out two and getting none in return. Forwards: Kaprizov, Boldy, Ek, Yurov, Johansson, Zuccarello, Hartman, Tarasenko, Foligno, Sturm, Trenin, Hinostroza Out: Pitlick, Jones, Aube-Kubel Defense: Faber, Hughes, Spurgeon, Brodin, Bogosian, Middleton Out: Jiricek, Hunt Even with the Hughes trade, this team, specifically the forward group, does not look like a Cup contender or even a deep playoff run team. They are overachievers now due to rock solid goalie play and strong defensive play. Their style of play works in the regular season against Eastern Conference teams that they only face twice a season. It does not work in Western Conference playoff series when opponents adapt and adjust and the Wild don't or can't. The addition of Hughes will help, but I don't think it will be enough. Ek, Yurov and Sturm are the centers on the roster with Hartman filling in. The glaring deficiency is at the center position. Crosby would be an amazing add but it isn't going to happen. ROR looks like the best answer at the moment. I think I heard that Jiricek loves country music!

Brayden Schenn is my realistic choice which won’t force us to go scorched earth on the prospect pool Edited December 18, 2025 by Pewterschmidt

ArizonaWildFan Verified Member
Saw something proposed on ESPN that was intriguing... Trenin and the 2027 1st round pick to Utah for Nick Schmaltz. He would certainly address a need at center... a need that is greater than what would be lost in Trenin.
