Senko-Yurov-Hartman could be a solid 3rd line in the playoffs (though I hope we upgrade on Tarasenko, personally..) and Foligno-Sturm-Trenin is pretty much made for the playoffs as a 4th line.

Can Foligno stay healthy, though? And can he start producing again. He's been one of if not my favorite player, but this year has been a disappointment.

I am wondering how we'll fill the positions and still feel we're a bit away. But, if we go after a center, he needs to be an offensive 200' guy. It looks like this will be how the team is built.

That Rossi will not retire as a Wild was crystal clear a long time ago .

And when a GM does not like a player for what ever reason you cant do anything about it .

For now this trade is a win/win situation for both clubs and so also for the players involve . Quinn Hughes is an amazing player and he increased his chances for play-off participation big time. Also Olympic are coming and with USA WC right now there is huge chance for a medal .

But I m still worried about depth at center what got worst with Rossi trade .Yurov will not do 82 games and any EEK injury can cause disaster

Him being out at the wrong moment could ground this team very easily particularly in play-off . And with a first round exit in play-off and Hughes asking for 15 million in summer Wild are not better off a bit .

Even with starpower now they are still not build like a playoff team

Rossi s job from now on is rather easy .Playoff chances are very slime already .Minor chance for 3rd place in division as race for wildcard is pointless for any Pacific team in Western Conference .

So Rossi does have a save 2C spot only need to match his numbers from Minnesota . 40 in worst case and 60 in best case .

With 11 million for Elias Pettersson Canucks have miles bigger problem s

So Rossi can relax as underpaid player and just focus on teamgoals

We sure seem to have a deep D-Core.

Hughes,Faber, Spurgeon, Brodin, Bogo, Mids, Hunt.. and even Jiricek is a solid player in the "Break Glass in case of Emergency" situation.  I would expect Hynes to play around with the pairing a bit to see what pairings work the best.  But there is enough talent there that injuries shouldn't completely derail us like they have in the past.

Peterka is doing pretty well for Utah, so that wouldn't have been a terrible deal if Buffalo was interested.

If felt like Guerin was playing it smart by not wasting his assets on guys who wouldn't be difference makers.

Wild had a solid first game with Quinn Hughes, but also seemed like an off night for Boston while the players on the Wild from the start of the season were buzzing and making plays. Quinn Hughes chipped in a 5-hole goal too.

Wild have climbed to top 4 in the West, but have a tough stretch ahead:

Capitals

@ Blue Jackets

Oilers

Avalanche

With Evason, the Blue Jackets are likely to play the Wild tough even though they are near the bottom of the East currently. Edmonton is 6-3-1 in their last 10, and both Washington and Colorado are 7-1-2 in their last 10.

If they Wild come out of that stretch with a few wins, they should be looking like a contender.

i sure hope Brodin is back before they play Edmonton and Colorado

ROR would be an epic addition for this team tbh. He could potentially play on the top-line for us too if they want to give Kap/Zuccy more chances to start with the puck since he's so good in the faceoff.

Plus you could probably stick with a Zuccy-ROR-Kap line in the playoffs instead of making Hynes feel like he needs to go with the Boldy-Ek-Kaprizov line.

Senko-Yurov-Hartman could be a solid 3rd line in the playoffs (though I hope we upgrade on Tarasenko, personally..) and Foligno-Sturm-Trenin is pretty much made for the playoffs as a 4th line.

You forgot to put our best player on the top line!

I think Rossi became expendable when Yurov showed his defensive game is just as good as Rossi's and his offensive upside (While not at Rossi's level yet) is adequate.  He is also a bigger guy than Rossi and has shown good strength on the puck.  He was a capable goal scorer in the K and I expect to see it more as the season goes on... he is improving quickly.  He is much more of an Ek style player.

What happens to Edmonton if McDavid goes down... Or McKinnon.  Every team has injury concerns.. Hope for the best.

I have no idea what Quinn will require to sign.  Erik Karlson is the highest D-man at 11.5M currently.  I would expect Hughes and Makar to both ask for north of $13M and are likely to get it.  We have the room.  Hopefully we can lock him up for 8 years.

Not sure what you mean by "Build like a playoff team".  The Wild are not a small team.  We have ample skill.  I would like 1 more scoring forward with a 200 foot game... otherwise I think we are dramatically closer than we were last year.  I expect to get out of the 1st round and more.

He's probably not gonna get double digit goals this year but he could be a productive member of a defensive 4th line for the rest of the season and the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong I do like the trade

For two reasons :

One Quinn Hughes is an amazing player

Two I like people who are willing to take risk and BG did that

Where I do disagree is the way like Rossi was treated but that's  fortunately a closed chapter . He will be very happy in Vancouver as nothing will challenge his 2C spot.

And I also disagree that Wild are not Oilers and center position is still very risky and by implication playoff chances are not higher .

Wild remaining 3rd in Central is realistic scenario and first round would be Dallas and if they slip to WC 1 it would be again Vegas

Did Guerin really handle the Rossi situation correctly? My impression, is that Guerin damaged Rossi`s trade value as other clubs were declining to take on Rossi as the centerpiece in a trade, or were making lowball offers.

The Vancouver GM insisted on Buium being part of the package, implying that Rossi was not highly valued by Vancouver. Had Guerin not included Buium, Rossi would still be in a Wild uniform.

Trading for a legit 1C is very unlikely, but maybe trading for a winger like Brady Tkachuk could work. I think the Wild could make a competitive offer for Tkachuk, but Ottowa might not be eager to trade him.To free up salary cap space for Tkachuk, I would move on from Spurgeon.

Charlie Stramel might be a 4th line player in 27-28. He is not NHL ready, and certainly not on scoring lines. He may top out as a 3rd line player in his prime.

Just like Hughes was expected to be possibly elite maybe but definitely a solid NHL’r but ended up one of the best in the world.
All the experts are always right 😂

Wasn't Kirill a 5th rounder that might not ever get stateside let alone a top 10 world class superstar?
yeah, Yurov is at best a 3rd line C 🤣🤣🤣

When we make the cup run in May, everyone will be clamoring for BG to give Hughes the rest of the checkbook $$$.  The extension isn't going to kick in until ‘27 when the cap could be 15-20M higher than now.
Doing a little prognostication, Hughes will sign an 8yr $121M contract with us.

BG will also find someone before ‘26 that will play top line minutes unless….

1. We don’t need the depth because we are healthy and winning.
2. The right deal isn't to be had by the deadline.

If we have 1 of several players his LTIR, BG is going shopping.

I've never heard anyone say that. I'm not even sure what your point is.

Stramel is a high minutes guy playing with great talent in his 4th NCAA season. He's basically scoring near the levels that Jordan Greenway and Nico Sturm did in their 3rd seasons, so even adjusting for the fact that Stramel is young for a 4th year player, he doesn't appear to be a superior skill/scorer type at the NHL level.

Yurov has always been considered a top 6 type of talent, as far as I know.
