Article: The Wild Are Assembling the NHL's Ghostbusters After Trading For Quinn Hughes

Recommended Posts

Ek and his punchable face.  Funny!!!  His play flat out pisses off the best players in the league. Which is really fun to watch.   Ek is a big boy now and appears to be very strong.   Opposing teams be wary.  Hitting Ek just seems to rev him up even more. And he hits back. The guy is a beast.... in every sense of the word.

Smiles from Hughes. That would be a good omen towards a resigning, I would think.

We need to truly sell the large market fanbase in a mid market city. It seems like the Hughes brothers could spend summers here in MN. It's not so different than Michigan. Having all 3 in Da Beauty League might be quite a draw.

Alright, Vancouver at New Jersey at 11:30 am today for those who have NHL network. And Wild should get Hughes on the ice at 5:00 pm today, hosting the Boston Bruins and Khusnutdinov. Boston has won 4 in a row and are the only team in the league without an OT loss(6-0 in OT games).

Time to see what this Wild team could look like with Quinn Hughes on it, after the team picked him up using the owner's private jet. The Wild have zero guarantees of an extension with Hughes(that's direct from his agent, per the Athletic), but made the trade anyway.

------------------------------------------------------

And as a long-time NoJo naysayer, I have to say that he delivered 2 of the best passes he has made in a Wild jersey Saturday against Ottawa. At age 35, on the $800k contract, he's on pace for the best season of his career. I certainly did not see that coming!

Need to remember that the Canuck dressing room has had issues for a year, at least. They had to trade JT Miller last year because he and Pettersson couldn't get along, and their play this year has been lacking across the board.

I'm hopeful the Wild's room will be a much more positive, supportive environment for QH, and his play will improve as a result.

Looks like Rossi is off IR.  All 3 new Vancouver boys will be playing today. Rossi is listed as #1C.

Buium is 2nd pairing, but playing on PP1, per an interview I saw on the Athletic.

Ohgren was practicing with their 4th line so far, but he's young and could really develop. Those guys are going to put up some points for Vancouver.

For the Wild, Jonas Brodin (upper-body injury) didn’t play Saturday and will be out Sunday, Hynes said. Hynes indicated Brodin will be out a few days, but it’s not a week-to-week scenario.

I imagine Hunt will play 2nd pair for this one with Brodin and Middleton out. We'll see if they sit Jiricek or Kierstad now, as opposed to the Saturday game. Not sure what the PK units will look like. Boston has been pretty solid this year(7th in goals for per game), so this could be a higher scoring game, particularly if there are a lot of penalties.

1 period in and Buium already has a PP goal and PP assist for the Canucks.

He could make a strong push for the Calder given the role he'll have for them.

To be fair, neither was a great play by Buium, just getting more opportunity, but he's done well in scoring with significant opportunity for his prior teams.

The Mighty Quinn has his work cut out for him already...

Buium was gifted those two points. The assist, he didn’t play much of a role. And the goal was a lucky deflection.
