We just gave away 4 1st round picks and we get a guy for 1 1/2 years.  Dumb

That's not certain .A lot depend how Wild will do rest of saison and also in play-off . But how much Wild are able to offer Hughes contract wise ?

They have a lot of exciting player's now but still Center depth is not there

EEK hurt for 20 games and Top line center would be Ryan Hartman

Still trying to shake off the shock of this and figure out my feelings so here we go. Quinn is elite, all stop. Top 2 defenseman in the NHL, on a team that, let's be honest, is not good. He also puts up points, again on a bad team, which can't hurt. Very excited to see what he can do on this roster and working with Boldy and Kap.

The mixed feelings, losing Zeev, but our hope would be that he develops in a Quinn or Cale right? Hughes is also only 26, so he's not old. I'm sad about losing Zeev, but that is all based on potential. What if he becomes good but not elite, let alone top 5 dman. Ohgren? Meh, has been getting better but are we sure that Haight can't preform the same? Rossi hurts, young, center, getting better each year. But he went out the 11th,during the ot loss to the sharks. Then without him, an absolute heater. I'm not saying better without but, definitely have been preforming quite well while he's been out. Yurov is quickly adapting well to the Kap style of free style give and go hockey so he is a good fit at 1c. Who breaks up line 2? So Rossi line 3? Will be missed hard if Yurov or ek get dinged up. Future 1st? It may be Super Mario, it may be James Sheppard.

I think I am talking myself into being OK with it and see why it makes sense. This all hinges on a long term resign, deep playoff runs/hoisting the cup. If a 2 year rental no cup, fire everyone, if he won't sign and really wants to go to NJ, flip him next trade deadline to recoup. For now, I will enjoy having an elite offensive defenseman driving play. Him and Faber is sexy, brodin and spurge can still be elite, also letting them jump up in the play a bit more safely. Bogo, hunt, jiricek( if he progresses) could be fun. Jiri and hunt could be a fun 3rd pairing if they put it together.

If on Christmas, the neighbor stole my brand new bicycle that was exactly what I wanted and replaced it with his smaller, older, more expensive bike that is faster today, but likely to break down sooner...and stole half of my gift cards too...then I guess it's like Christmas.

I have no doubt that Quinn Hughes is dynamic offensively, but I have no idea how good he is on defense. He was certainly one of the better players from a really mediocre draft, but Buium's future should be incredible.

I feel like I got the old version of something I really wanted instead of the new upgraded version, and it cost me far more than the new product. I suspect this trade will make the Wild better in the current season, and hurt their future.

I thought Guerin did a pretty solid job of building up assets, but I just don't know how this one is going to work out.

I like the positivity...but I will take longer to get there.

Yep...  I feel that as well.  We just lost Zeev... and yes... I do think he is the next Makar.

We have to sign him long term to make it worth it

Agreed 4 first rounder for 1 1/2  years would be too much

But Quinn Hughes is an amazing player but still worried about center depth now even if they played well when Rossi was out

Horrible trade.   He will be gone to free agency after 2027 as a UFA because he wants to play for the Devils.   We just gave away 4 1st round picks and we get a guy for 1 1/2 years.  Dumb

you win with him - he stays. and you do this trade knowing that you have a chance to win. he can bond with his brothers in the off season. this is our time.
