Wow! You have to think Guerin has already talked extension or this is a huge mistake (might be anyway). Still processing this one and not sure what to think! Bummed to lose Zeev especially.

Apparently we don't like even-year first round draft picks because we just essentially traded four of them to Vancouver:

2020 1st: Rossi

2022 1st: Ohgren

2024 1st: Zeev

2026 1st: TBD

Is Hughes worth FOUR first round picks? I sure hope so.

Does this mean more of the Hughes family is headed here eventually? Maybe, but not likely to happen anytime soon. Jack is signed through 2030 and Luke through 2032.  Really hoping this works out. If nothing else, it makes us a better team now. I'm a little leery about how this works out long term. One of the biggest concerns about Rossi always seemed to be his size. But Quinn Hughes is 5'10" and 180 lbs. and at 26, likely isn't going to get much bigger. Cautiously excited to see how this all plays out, but if Hughes isn't re-signed, this becomes the Herschel Walker trade all over again.

Shocked to see a trade. I can't disagree though with the idea to go with as much skill and star power as you can. The future is always just potential, and the Wild have near top end talent in Kaprizov, Hughs and Boldy right now. JEE is not far behind. Sad to see the boys go to Vancouver but excited for Hughes to jump in

Well all boils down to evolution of Zeev .

Canucks get Rossi for FREE , Ohgren and 2026 Draft are still a ?

Yeah, not sure about this.

Rossi, Buium, Ohgren, and a 1st is quite a lot.  I get that elite players are not easily pried from teams, so I can accept paying a lot to get a really good player, but I think it's a huge mistake unless he is going to sign an extension next year.

A season and a half of Hughes is not enough to replace losing Rossi and Buium long-term.  They are both good players that will keep getting better.  Ohgren I'm not going to lose sleep over.  I think he will get better too, but I'm feeling like a solid 3rd line player is probably his ceiling.  The 1st isn't a huge loss if we do well this year, but it hurts a bit on top of the draft picks given up for Jiricek (not that I disagree with that trade, but I am a little concerned about paying that much for a project that requires a lot of development when Bombardir and co. have been pretty crap at developing anyone in the Wild's System as a whole).

I also have concerns about team chemistry when the Wild rely so heavily on it for their defense to work well.  A change of this magnitude isn't something that should be done lightly.  I get that Rossi has been hurt, Buium is still working his way in as a regular, and Ohgren has primarily been filler in a roster with a bunch of injuries, but it's still a huge change that has to affect that entire locker room.

I just really doubt Hughes stays, and if we have to shop Hughes in a year to avoid losing all that for nothing, then that will be the turning point where I will start thinking Guerin needs to go.  We don't know if Guerin has a verbal commitment from Hughes for the Wild to have a realistic chance to re-sign him.  Maybe he's on board if the Wild can make a run in the playoffs.  I feel like it would hinge on that at the very least.

Wow. We absolutely emptied the cupboards on this one. What other pieces do we have? Jiricek?

Guess we're stuck with the forwards we have. This move is a real head scratcher. We need a couple more goal scorers, I don't see that happening now, especially with free agency being what it is.

Billy is an idiot. Hughes is awesome, but not worth what was given. They now have two years to win the cup. Hughes won’t sign here, has already said he’s going to NJ. Billy will lose his job over this when he doesn’t re-sign. He just gutted the Wild who were already lacking depth. He literally just traded the entire youth of this team. SMH.

Keep all the Rossi-baters in your prayers, boys. They’re playing Sarah McLachlan on repeat tonight. 🤣

Where’d you come from nim rod? Guess you’re too smooth brained to realize we lost a really good center when we’re short on centers.
