NoJoSux Verified Member
Gonna be an NHL stud when finally fully developed or another one of MN's great blunders to trade away the pick that could have been Mason West? I mean they always say it takes longer for defensemen to develop. Just look at Lambos as an example of that. Now that Jiricek is back in the AHL bumped by Bogo, what are the Wild thinking? Is #55 trade value getting better? Is he gonna have to have a Wallstedt type of year with more seasoning in the minors? The team is playing better, but what's the prognosis or Wild-fan guesses about Jiricek or Ogie? Both guys were 1sts but Yurov and Wally are showing the stuff. Jiricek and Ogz have had chances to do something and it's sorta not happening. Just gotta be patient can't be the answer ALL the time, can it?
TheGoosesAreLooses Verified Member
I see flashes of the offence that was promised with Jiricek, but i think his offence is being smothered by a coaching staff that refuses to play anything but a very stingy style of defence. I don't believe it is time to label him a bust or anything close however the clock is ticking. I hope he can put together a little more consistency on the defensive side of the puck. All in all I think he is a project that we paid too much for but may come into his own in the next couple years. Lambos is much closer to an NHL defensemen in my opinion, looked very tight in the preseason with both reads and defensive play but Guerin doesn't seem high on him. Hunt looks quite different after spending half a season elsewhere in the AHL. I think that tells us that not much is going to be improved or developed in Iowa and these players need NHL expirience if they are ever going ot flourish. They may have blemishes but need to play at the speed of the NHL to adapt to it. That doesn't happen in Iowa.
