I think almost everyone here believes we overpaid for Kap.  Where we disagree is on what options we had or what else we could have done.  But to me, what is done is done, no sense complaining about it for the next 8 1/2 years.  With that said, can we hold off on the comments about his contract and production until next year when he is actually making $17M?

It really kind of irks me that he was offered 16m but held out to get that extra 1mil. Just had to have it. For someone who is a "team player," I would have thought the player could have said "no, 16m is plenty enough."

Kempe gets that contract because Kirill got his.  Same thing with Lacomb.  Players are going to get higher contracts not because the seal is broken.  Is Kirill over paid?  Not this year.  Next year we can have that conversation.

The structure is set.  Keep the puck in front of you and take your chances when available.  That is how Hynes plays and it works.  He finally has the blue line horses to attack from the top.  They just need Jiricek to wake up and use his offense and this team will be deadly.
