Article: Where Does Brock Faber Stand In Team USA’s Olympic Picture?

Recommended Posts

My hope is that if he makes the team which is likely, they will give him 3rd pairing minutes. Olympics are for fun, you can win a medal, but what I care about is the last 1/3rd of our season, and Faber having gas in the tank!

Let somebody else's defender play all those minutes and then our forwards can zip around them when they run out of gas!

Faber looks like he is back to being Brock Steady.  His game is looking good after that awful start.

I liked Hynes finally letting him play with Buium last game. It was injury that got them there, but those 2 playing together with good results makes future positive results feel a little more tangible.

Brodin with Spurgeon works too.

Hunt with Jiricek might be fine for 3rd pairing. Middleton is out again tonight.

Gus in goal tonight vs. San Jose. I'm guessing Wall goes next game against the Ducks, with Gus taking the 2nd weekend game against Vegas.

The season is compressed on both sides of the Olympics.  Though I think anyone with an Excel spreadsheet can come up with a better schedule even with the Olympic break.  Still don't understand how you can have a back to back and also have three to four days off on either side of that back to back.  I get the idea is to have teams play a lot of games on the weekends and if those games have one of the teams tired it makes for a lot of scoring.  But I counter that with if your stars are injured because of lack of rest is it beneficial to have back to backs.

Going to the Olympics might be a benefit because you actually play hockey for that time.  Sitting at home basically doing dry land training might mess with your game.

Not with the older guys. They get to recharge their batteries. I'm not calling Faber or Boldy old, but playing a bit and not overextending himself would be beneficial.

As long as they don't get a shoulder injury and somehow an infection along with it it should be fine.  Still don't know how the Wild got blamed for McAvoy's shoulder infection.  He was injured and three days later he was diagnosed with an infection that put him out for the majority of the season.  Seems to me that infection was there before the tournament.

I think they were blaming the infection on the shot, which would have been from the Wild training staff. Perhaps there was something going around in their equipment. The last time I remember a question like this was with the Cleveland Browns medical staff where there were a couple of infections to their players.

But, with the medical staff, you can also look at their track record, especially with all the injuries they've had the last couple of years. I think there is at least a small fire here.
