Article: Wild Reportedly Looking to Trade For Key Forward

What would it take for the Wild to get Brady Tkachuk from Ottowa? I still think the Wild should be looking at finding a big name player to partner with Kaprizov.

We have seen how Kaprizov does with and without Zuccarello, and Brady Tkachuk could be the Zuccarello replacement.

Line 1 dream scenario - Kaprizov / Tkachuk / best center left after trading for Tkachuk.

What I do know is that we appear to have more D men than we need and I don't see us trading away Spurge,

Love ya Spurge, but I would look to trade him in a heartbeat, and I said that 2 years ago.  His sand is quickly draining from the hourglass and we still owe him decent money next year.  I'd rather have the cap space for younger offense.

It will never happen though.

Agreed.  Trading Spurge represents a commitment to future years, not this year.  BG has shown that he is committed to winning each year.  We are likely to win more games this year with Spurgeon than without.  Which puts the probability of trading Spurgeon very low.  BG just won't do it.

Spurgeon has surprised me.  I thought he would struggle returning from his last injury.  Instead, he has played some very good hockey.  He does so many things the right way.

That’s not even an option. They don’t want to trade him. Ottawa’s star players are entering their prime years so I don’t see it happening at all.

If Georgiev couldn’t hack it on the Avs he’s definitely not hacking it on Edm. He’d give up 5 a night on that team.

Can't disagree.  Georgiev may not be an improvement.  But Edmonton is giving up 3.59 goals per game and they want a goalie.  Trent Frederic has only scored 1 goal and isn't a great return either.  Bottom dweller to Bottom dweller trade.  But I've seen enough GMs do this hoping for a player to respond well to a new team and new environment to know that a trade like this can and does happen.... usually more often than a high end for high end player.

Any trade would have to go through Guerin and the front office and that means they are better off standing pat.  Guerin could screw up a one car funeral. Maybe he can find another Jirecek and give up a first round pick for him.  Wild go nowhere trade or no trade.  Bottom of the conference squad.   Bottom of the league management.

2nd game in a row with a 0-0-0 stat line for Rossi playing 1C with 97.  This game ended in a one goal loss where it's fair to expect Rossi to step up and make a play.  There were stretches last night I wasn't sure he was in the lineup.  While Rossi is not the problem with this group, these 0's playing 1C are what the non-rossi-apologist's see when this team is sliding sideways and looking for a player to step up.

Griping about 1-2 game stretches is getting a bit much.  I am reminded of that "Where's 97?" graphic from like a week ago, only for him to jump from 18th to 3rd in like a game or two later.

About 20 teams are within 2-3 points of each other.  We're not gonna know anything at this rate until probably December.  Just get 1-2 points while this weirdness is going on, and they won't have to worry about forcing winning streaks once the separation does.

My bigger concern would be getting absolutely no points for long stretches again like a few games ago.

the NHL'rs scoring system ensures that this is the case nearly the entire season.  It's about selling ticket's, tv commercials and merch after all.  It's time to talk about what we're seeing with our own eyes game to game.

The gripe on Rossi is not on his ability to produce offense when paired with 97.  It's his inability to drive offense w/o 97.  The fact that he's logged two games of 0's playing 18-20 min WITH 97 is worth tracking.  And you can bet Pew-tastic will be tracking this.

Tbh he was invisible in the previous game as well, but at least he scored one. I dunno what's going on, but I was really excited in the first few games about his step up (even tho the games were lost) - now he is in last third of season invis mode again it seems.

Yurov was way more visible than him.. i had to triple check Rossi's TOI number because I just didnt see him.

Same stat line as our 17 million dollar man. I'd guess a 5 million dollar guy is gonna have some 0-0-0's.

Fair.   And we can quibble about expected return from 17M vs 5M.  But there is rarely a period that goes by when 97 doesn’t make a hockey play where he’s creating at least one high danger chance.  Rossi goes stretches of games where he goes missing

Agreed, but he's never gonna make 17 mill. either. He's not McD or Draisitel or Eichel . But he's a solid young player and we could do a lot worse.

There also is rarely a period that KK doesn't cough up some.pucks in bad positions. On the defensive side of the puck, I think Rossi is the most visible on that line right now. Kk and Zucc are both only playing one side of the puck.

But Michael Russo is reporting that Rossi is hurt and being out on a week to week basis .So no defensive side ?
