0 Stanley Cups Verified Member
Crazy ending, Preds tie with 0.3 seconds left, then the goalie clearly dislodges the net, I think it's the right call. I compare it to if there's an empty net and a player gets a breakaway, if a defender throws their stick or trips them even before they can shoot, the ref can still award a goal. Just think how many times that goalie has gotten away with it throughout his career. I feel a little bad for Bruno afterwards as he is clearly on the hot seat and will likely be the first coach fired this year.

Could have killed the time by just holding the puck instead of giving them an easy passing lane from the blue line. Felt bad for Gus there because he played a great game and that last second shot could have been avoided. Both goals were bad plays by his forwards giving the puck away in the defensive zone. 2

The goal came off really easily. He didn't put that much pressure on the post and the goalie needs to press against the goal post to seal off the space for the puck. It didn't look intentional, but I'm happy the Wild got 2 points.

His arm coming up to make it look like he pushed it didnt help the argument it was unintentional, it also didnt help that was like the 4th time (happened at both ends) that he pushed the net off whereas Gus didnt push the net off once. I'd be pissed if the shoe was on the other foot, but there was recently another one they allowed that looked like it might have hit the crossbar if the net was there that they called a goal. Seems like this season if the defender knocks it off, pepper the area. If you're a defender, play through the whistle.
Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
Adam Benak is playing in the OHL for the first time after moving from the USHL, where he spent a year following a Czech league season before that. His team, the Brantford Bulldogs, is leading the OHL in goals and points in the standings, with zero regulation losses in 16 games, and 13 wins. Benak is 2nd on his team in points, trailing only Jake O'Brien(1st in the entire OHL), the 8th overall pick from the 2025 draft. The leading goal scorer for the team(and the entire OHL) is a 2024 1st round draft choice, Marek Vanacker, with 15 goals. Benak is currently tied for 3rd in total points, with 8 goals and 19 assists in 14 games. Jake O'Brien has the same number of goals, but 5 more assists to lead the OHL with 32 points. One of their goalies is also leading the OHL in save% at .930. They have a couple more teammates that have a shot at being late 1st round picks in 2026. Should be a really fun team for the fans in Brantford,ONT!
MNCountryLife Verified Member
I thought it was a great call. Letting a Netminder push the net off should not affect the game. Nobody forced him. Intentional or not... it was his fault. You let the play continue and the goal counts. Would I be angry if I was on the other side. Yeah.. probably. But I would also be angry with Gus for not making an attempt to stop Nojo and finishing until the whistle.

Scalptrash Verified Member
Surprised Johansson knew to tap it in. He obviously was familiar with the rule because he looked right at the ref and waited for the confirmation.

Absolute rip from Stamkos. MN has made a lot of poor decisions this season that have cost them. A lot of parity in the NHL. MN can't take anything for granted. Sometimes that seemed like the case. Playing from behind all the time is not a formula for anything. The goal differential and defensive side of the game has to be there. The 5v5 game isn't good at all. For some reason, no Ek, Kaprizov, Boldy line happening at all. That seem weird to anyone else? It would be a great time to tank if you asked me. Important guys under contract, lots of veterans you could sell at the deadline, there's reasons to do it now. (McKenna looks pretty good.) Maybe Brackett could get that pick right? You could get a lot of draft picks at the deadline I bet, off-loading vets. NoJo having an amazing year to make himself valuable again. Never saw that coming.
Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
Quote Zuccarello, Sturm updates Mats Zuccarello, who underwent surgery at the end of training camp, might come on the upcoming two-game trip. If he plays, it would likely be on Long Island in the second of a back-to-back Friday, Wild president of hockey operations and general manager Bill Guerin told The Athletic. Nico Sturm, who underwent back surgery after getting hurt in the first practice of training camp, is eyeing a return at or around Dec. 1. He’s progressing well and skated lightly for the first time Monday by himself. He’s cleared for off-ice workouts as well. --The Athletic
NoJoSux Verified Member
Most NoJoish goal ever. Last guy to touch the puck at the net is kicked off and he gets a default OT game-winner. Such a weird year so far where NoJo is getting points left and right while still being the soft, zero-urgency guy he's always been. He's made some nice plays but his fortunate bounces has him tied with Brodin for the lead in plus/minus at 0. Bogo leads the team at +3 with just five games played. EVERY other player for the Wild is a minus rating with Buium really stinking defensively.

mnfaninnc Verified Member
Well, I thought we played a good game right up to the end. Hynes ran the Ek with Kaprizov and Boldy line for about 2 minutes right at the end. IMO, that's just too long. It does give you a better chance to hit the empty net, but they must have been tanked.....and then Kaprizov and Ek start the OT period after a nice commercial break. Maybe they weren't tanked? No Yurov again has me concerned. Hynes is not playing the kids unless he's forced to. Guerin may need to let a vet go just to make the point to Hynes to play the kids. That vet would need to be a forward. I'm still very much in favor of the shakeup trade being Spurgy to Detroit for Danielson so don't get me wrong here. But for the vet forward to go, I think Hartman is the leading candidate which leaves a big hole: Flexibility and RHS with some skill. If you read the way the contracts were extended, Hartman was the guy Guerin would have expected to trade out 1st. Spurgy and Brodin are also in that window. Foligno is next year, and Zuccy is a drop off, though might get a Johansson contract at the end of the year.

Truthfully, I have no idea what his status is. If he is a healthy scratch, Hynzy is being stupid (again?). The young guys need to play. There should be no option.
