Article: Wild Finally Win a Game, Snap Losing Streak

Recommended Posts

There's still a lot of work to do. The kids have got to get experience. This is not currently happening under Hynes. We really need this to be a priority!

I believe in winning, but we've got to be winning with the kids playing a significant role, not watching from the sidelines.

Agreed.  Jiricek and Buium need more ice time.  Yurov didn't even play.  Any long term success will require him in the lineup.  Still no Lambos, Ohgren, Haight are even Hunt.

I'm glad we got the win...but if we want wins in Feb and March we will need those kids playing now.

I would keep Hinostroza in the lineup. He's working hard and creating scoring opportunities, but I generally agree with the youth playing. I just wouldn't sit Stroh's down.

VinnHinny is this season’s glue guy.  Perfect 4th liner who brings energy and can play up the lineup for short stints when necessary

Which rookies would you insert and which vets would you sit?

I'd like Yurov to center the 3rd line with Foligno and Ohgren. I'd like to see Brodin drop down with Jiricek, and I guess that leaves Buium playing with Faber. I'd like The Wall to get 1/3 starts. If Jones can play 4th line center well, then I'd leave him there and play Hartman up on 2nd line wing...maybe taking strong hand faceoffs? In this scenario, Pitlick gets sent down.

Figuring out Tarasenko: What I've noticed about Tarasenko is he doesn't like to carry the puck long. He wants passes when he's in a shooting position and then get the shot off. I'm not so sure he's done, I think he's the kind of player we haven't really had and it's taking time for him to get used to the guys and the guys to get used to him. We don't really have a guy like him. In comparison, Kaprizov tries to get shots away quickly too, but he also likes to carry the puck. I think when Zuccy's back, Tarasenko will come alive a bit.

When Zuccy's back, what to do with Hartman? If I were going to roll all 4, I'd put Hartman on a line with Hinostroza and Ohgren, and move Trenin up to the 3rd line. If I wasn't going to roll with 4 lines, it's pretty hard to justify playing Hartman low. I want to see Ohgren in the middle of some scrums like Ek and Foligno are. I want to see him truck some people too.

So if I am interpretting what you said correctly ... when Zuc returns you want this lineup? Note: Not taking into account Sturm's return.

Kirill/Rossi/Boldy
Zuc/Ek/Senko
Foligno/Hartman/Ohgren
Trenin/Yurov/Vinnie

Brodin/Jiricek
Buium/Faber
Mids/Spurge

Gus(66%)/Wall(33%)
================================

IMO: Once Zuc and Sturm return I would like to see:

Kirill/Rossi/Zuc
Hartman/Ek/Boldy
Foligno/Yurov/Ohgren
Trenin/Sturm/Vinnie

Brodin/Jiricek
Buium/Faber
Mids/Spurge

Gus(50%)/Wall(50%)
================================

I like the pairing of Brodin with Jiricek and I think Buium and Faber will work well together.  Mids and Spurge just seem to have a good understanding of each other.  I'm okay at this point letting Senko sit for a while.  He needs to conform to the team as much or more than the team conforming to him.
