Every player is a minus player (no surprise) but Spurgeon is the worst at -12, and Foligno is second at -10. I am not sure how much Spurgeon might be on the PK and that being a contributing factor. Guys drafted in '20-22 that aren't established yet but go along with our draft window of players. They would be further along. $70.6m is the cap floor. We're eating a lot of it up right now, but letting some players with term go to other teams really opens up some space for us later. But P-O'lantern, he was a serviceable big body during those 6 playoff games...that makes Trenin even more frustrating because he's proven he's not capable of a hockey play so for him to contribute anything he needs to put in some effort thru hustle and he's not doing that now either. That's not really the point. The point is that over Detroit's playoff years, they were not able to restock the cupboard. Did they honestly believe they were going to take this team to the cup and ride off into the sunset? Hynes was a horrible hire, he wasn't the best man for the job, not even close. He's just one of Billy's beer drinking buddies. Quote Minnesota is off to a familiar start because it refuses to change. Guerin has been the GM since 2019, and the Wild promoted him to president after they lost in the playoffs. They still lean on players past their prime and struggle to integrate prospects into the NHL. The Wild remain in a vicious cycle because they keep doing the same thing while expecting a different result. At some point, they need to embrace change. This sums up the Wild and how poorly managed this team is from the very top. Leipold is a horrible judge of character and has yet to make a good hire. He hired a name, not a competent general manager. Billy has done what was asked of him, "just make the playoffs every year". While that task isn't easy, it's a lot easier than building a championship team. All of this teams' woes are self inflicted, mostly by Billy himself. He is NOT qualified or smart enough to run an NHL franchise. His multiple five year plans are failures. He has failed to lift this team any higher than it was. It's actually worse off than before he was hired. This is supposed to be the payoff season and look what he's built....failure. There is no magic wand or shining knight that's going to propel this team into the second round of the playoffs this season. That is the bare minimum for this team after cap hell, shackles off, Christmas morning promises. Both Billy and John need to go and Leipold needs to let someone else run the franchise and make the hiring decisions. It's the ONLY way this team moves forward and upward.
