I am not sure how much Spurgeon might be on the PK and that being a contributing factor.

That doesn't give you a -. Only even strength or PP gives you a -. However, I do believe ENG also will give you a -.

Now let's look at our vets and their clauses: Note-Remember there is a cap floor

  • Of the forwards, I would certainly keep the top paid guys, Kaprizov, Boldy, Ek, Rossi
  • Tarasenko-8 team trade list
  • Zuccarello- NMC
  • Foligno-NMC, I think he would go to a playoff contender
  • Hartman-15 team NTC
  • Trenin-No clause
  • Johansson-No clause listed (he might have a handshake deal)
  • Pitlick, Jones, Hinostroza-No clause
  • Of the defense, I'd certainly keep most, Faber, Buium, Jiricek, Middleton, Brodin
  • Hunt-can't move or goes back to CBJ
  • Spurgeon-10 team NTC
  • Brodin-No clause

Goalies are fine

What I would recommend is if we send off any of these guys in sell mode, we try to regain higher rated prospects instead of draft picks. Guys drafted in '20-22 that aren't established yet but go along with our draft window of players. They would be further along.

$70.6m is the cap floor. We're eating a lot of it up right now, but letting some players with term go to other teams really opens up some space for us later. Plus, we can always trade for an LTIR guy to take up cap space.

Can the team poach an already employed coach currently with a team? I think that is extremely doubtful.

A mid-season hynzy replacement (which i think is low probability) would most likely be a promotion for Cronin IMO.  No new expenses to the payroll besides Cronin's raise, while OCL pays Hynze thru next season.

Just to say that happens, what becomes of the kids in Iowa? Are they robbed of another developmental season with nobody really to coach them? Why not just elevate Capuano?

They'll never miss what they never had.  Seriously though, any stiff they bring in is at worst a lateral from what been happening in IA during bill's tenure

This is hynzy and bill's handpicked guy to fix the PK?  You want this fucking guy in charge?

Trenin has got to go. 3.5 million per year? Seriously. In the last 5 games I have watched him whiff on at least 8 shot attempts (completely miss hitting the puck) and like 3 games ago he even missed the net by 5+ feet. Is he drunk? Or is he that bad?

I'd rather find out that he's been playing drunk.  Again, who's pre-scouting these players before we're offering contracts?  But P-O'lantern, he was a serviceable big body during those 6 playoff games...that makes Trenin even more frustrating because he's proven he's not capable of a hockey play so for him to contribute anything he needs to put in some effort thru hustle and he's not doing that now either.

See Detroit's playoff run (with a couple of championships sprinkled in), and now.

Detroit had the cheat code of half the Red Army team being on the roster.  But yeah, they have missed the playoffs a lot and have been drafting in the top 10 over those years and their future is way brighter than the mid twenty draft picks Minnesota has had for the past 20 years.
