Article: Ryan Hartman Looks Recharged After A Tumultuous Year

Recommended Posts

I'd like to see Hartman with more speedy skill guys. Right now, MN has one too many mediocre-ish guys.

The NoJos Trenins, and Folignos on the team are not ideal for Hartzy. Zuccy, or Ek/Tarasenko would be better linemates for him to get good chances. He has good instincts and can score.

I like the Grizzle too but don't see him as much as a grinder.

Hopefully, MN's balance wrinkles can be ironed out. Zuccy, or a young Yurov/Ogie stepping up could make that easier.

At least the PP has looked good with Buium and Tarasenko chipping in. I'd like to see a little better 5v5 hockey from the Wild. Gotta think playoffs and what that will require. Not gonna be fifteen penalties in those games like early in the season.

I really hope to see hynes continue to tinker with the lines. With the refocused Hartman, try him on the first line again and shuffle the centers down a line. Rossi provides a more skilled center for Tank and NoJo, and Ek would create a shutdown line with Foligno and Trenin.

Or slide Rossi in with Ogre and Yurov and make those 2 keep up with Rossi.

It may just be a coincidence but the year Hartman was 1C was the most games KK has played in a season. Having the Grizzle next to KK might not be a bad idea.

Hartman is the type of player we need for the playoffs.  Him and Foglino fit the bill of the grinders that cause havoc come playoff time.  Hartman just has a perception that he is a dirty player right now.  Ryan Reeves has done things that would get Hartman kicked out of the league and Reeves didn't draw a penalty on the play.  Last year Reeves hit Darnel Nurse so hard that his helmet was sideways on his head.  And Nurse didn't even have the puck.

Hartman is an pesky instigator that gets punished for his infractions.  But come playoff time he is the guy you need on the ice.

Nojo sunk too low on the first goal allowing Dallas to step in tight for a quality chance from the high slot.  We had men covering the lower guys in front of the net.  His man was high slot.  I thought we played well until we gave up that goal.  The team deflated and looked tired after that and it was too little too late in the 3rd.

Hartman has started the season well.  I thought Dallas covered him well though.  He really does need to control himself.  When he focuses on putting the puck in the net he is at his best.  The grizzle... gets him and the Wild in trouble more often than it helps.  I get it.. it's who he is.  But he has to stay out of the box.  He knows where the line is... stop crossing it.

This seems like a very simple thing, but it isn't. I don't know how many officials there are in the league, but each official has a different line, and with several of them that line floats.

Sometimes, Hartman is just testing the limits. What made his playoffs so good was that he maintained composure even when getting cheap shotted trying to draw the penalty. I'm still convinced he's got damage in his right shoulder and cannot chuck the right hand in a fight effectively anymore. If you're going to instigate, you've got to be able to take the retaliation shot and that's the one that usually gets called.

This year, Hartzy has a really important role. He's got to mentor/show the kids how to play. Guys like OgZ need a little sandpaper. This is his most important role right now, including above the secondary scoring. He's a very replaceable part of this team.

Hartzy is our Rat and I’m glad we got him.  His penalty last night was all Rat. Trying to push the limits by ‘accidentally’ tripping d-man.  But a Rats gonna Rat, so when his next suspension comes it’ll open up  C spot that the kids can fill and get some reps.

I get what you are saying.

Hartman played some of his best hockey when he returned from the suspension.  I want that Hartman.  Still annoying the other team, but more disciplined and not always pushing the limit.

Definitely need guys like him on your NHL roster. Dude's got sneaky skill too.

If the Struminator comes back and fills 3/4C wouldn't mind see Hartman back at wing.
