mnfaninnc Verified Member
Closest prediction was Hartzy starting off quick with 2 goals against Binnington. Due to the 5-0 score, Goose had no chance at a goalie goal! My season predictions remain the same. The Wild fight and succeed for a WC spot in the playoffs. They are a much better team at the end of the season than the beginning. The new guys take a step forward, but from now through December, they will need extra coaching attention. I also believe that Buium will need to defend himself. I hope he knows how to chuck the knuckles. I am hoping the Wild have at least 1 meltdown game and really show up a referee tandem.
Pewterschmidt Verified Member
Would really like to see another hot start where this group can build up some wins-in-hand as insurance against injuries later in season Edited 6 hours ago by Pewterschmidt

TCMooch Verified Member
Here are my predictions. Wild start off hot and right when team starts to get done national attention they historically collapse and it comes down to the last game of the year to get into the playoffs. Wild lose that game but so does the other wild card team so Wild back into the playoffs. they go up 2-0 in first round only to lose every single game after and are bounced from playoffs in first round again. 1

How bout Carolina or Dallas, same story. Good, even very good with GMs, but still have teams that can't get over the hump. Like Dubas, Ken Holland, and others, they're fired or not extended despite team success. A collapse costs them. Then, GMs like Drury in New York or Sweeny in Boston, they have good teams who are at the top of their Division one year and duds the next. They're both extended or hanging around. Kinda makes ya wonder when you watch the musical chairs game that is NHL management. Glad we don't have Fenton. Pleased with Guerin's handling of the team despite handicaps and obstacles. Not sure, you can expect any of them to bat 1000% in all aspects. The Wild currently have flexibility that wasn't there before. They also have some valuable assets that could be flipped for an important player if they are healthy and winning around the deadline. Hopefully, MN will be a team that's rolling along when others are beginning to consider trading off assets or taking a shot at drafting McKenna. (I.e. tank.) In this regard, can we expect Billy to do stuff and give us some transactions to talk about? The Kirill deal should go with an asterisk IMO cause OCL publicly promised the farm. KK's agent had the Wild by the balls. GMBG had no chance to get #97 signed for 13M which we discussed and was very realistic prior to OCL's blabbing. It really won't matter this season anyway, so let's hope Zuccy and Sturm come in to bolster a solid Wild squad. I like the depth. Gotta perform to keep your place on a winning team is a good dynamic. (Ignore the NoJo anomaly-element. NoJo sucks, but if he picks up an odd point every three contests it's 14mins a game full-time on L2.) The interesting thing this season is possibilities. The Wild aren't locked into a holding pattern or totally stuck with the NoJos and Freds of the past few years. Merrill is gone and Jiricek could become a breakout player. Yurov or Ogie might not win the Calder but can they be better than #89 or #90? We wanna see the Wild try and the timing is finally right. If Grizzle goals, and Foligno fights are enough, MN can use their remaining money to grab the player they've needed and not worry about toughness or economy in the end.
