Time and time again, he (and Russo) like to point out that in the national hockey league, if there's a guy who's better than him then they would waive/bury in the AHL but there wasnt. Also, MoJo has routinely demonstrated he can still score points. Back-to-back 30+ point seasons has demonstrated that the guy can play at the level. Using the super-outdated and missing context '$100k/pt' reference, MoJo has hit above his contract point, and there's not a guy available at <$2M you can get that will bring 30 points to your lineup. And he's here on an $800k contract. Frankly, I don't care this season...we have the cap room available. The only thing blocking the next-gen is going to be their play and skillsets. We can afford the callups and pressbox time up and down the lineup. Calen Addison put up 29 points in 62 games. If you extrapolate that to a full 82 game season, and double up his TOI to 32 minutes/game, he's a PPG player. If you move him up to top-6 winger he's gonna be a 100+ point player. How is it possible that all 32 GM's in the league don't realize this?!
