Article: Minnesota's Organizational Depth Might Be Turning Up the Heat On Two Prospects

Recommended Posts

I like the way our D-core is shaping up.  I'm hoping Jiricek and Buium earn a full time roster spot.  Each of them brings a very different game to the table and both types would be good assets.

I never heard of Leskovar... but at 6'3'' 216lbs and only 21yo I'm definitely intrigued.  Would be great to have two 6'3'' guys playing hardball in front of the net and on the boards.

Masters and Peart are on notice. To me, if they come into camp significantly stronger than in the past, that will tell me all I need to know about their season. If they come in about the same, it's time to find them a new home.

Both of these guys needed big summers, and both of these guys most needed to improve the ruggedness of their game. If they chose not to do that, find a trade partner.

What scares me a little about this is the Wallstedt-Lambos-Peart draft. Judd was so excited after that draft claiming he got 3 guys in his top 20. I think The Wall will be fine, but Lambos needs to step up in the same category, and Peart, to me, appears to be a wasted 2nd. So, I'm beginning to question Judd's talent judgment.

Sure, Judd might be a fall guy in the lack of success coming in, but it is his cookie cutter prospect body type that concerns me the most. If anyone's seat is hot, I'd say his is the most hot, but this would be a 2 part move. The replacement is more important. Guerin, I believe, is a decent judge of talent, but his eyes are going in so many different directions that he cannot focus on the amateur draft. I am doubting there is an inside guy who can run the draft table too.

This is the definition or re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic

Why so? The point of view was from the player's perspective not the team's. If they do not improve their ruggedness, they'll be studying for their GC license next summer, or, heading to the K.
