Article: Is Bill Guerin's Tension With Marco Rossi A Media Creation?

Rossi's agent declined the offer, betting on Rossi to have a breakout year. However, instead of finishing strong, he once again finished weak. Some say 60 points is 60 points, but he was on pace for the middle 70s

It's not the pay or the point total what is worrying me.

Rossi did 100 point's in 167 games on entry level as CENTER

You would not get those number numbers next saison for less than 7 million maybe even 7.5 million .

Only hope Yurov being a capable center and Eriksson Ek improvement on Injury front .

Otherwise Wild are in trouble . Rossi is gone latest when he does pass again 60 point's

Good point.  I guess I was thinking the offer sheets didn’t come but not exactly an open market, so I take back my comment

RFA is still a market.  It spoke.  Tony doesn't like it so he is playing semantics.

Rossi just signed for 3 x $5m. He has 1 year left as an RFA. Should he produce like last year or above, he'll be rewarded for it with a large contract taking out UFA years.

I think way too much has been made of this "rift."

Yes and this is way too low .But what concerns me is not the salary but carelessness at center position from Wild point of view .

Any playoff team need 4 players what are essential

1) Above average goaltender able to do 50+ games

2) Top D-Man capable of 25 minutes every night and a + in +/- stats

3) Two Center ( 1C,2C ) capable of consistency in point production

And Rossi did show already in ELC that he is at least a 2C

And what did they do ? Underpay him on a team what doesn't even  have a 1C . Also Eriksson Ek is at best a 2C .

And both Faber and Gustavsson also need to proof every season that they are 1 and 2 from above

I disagree with the goaltender, mainly because watching the Canes, they have just gone mostly with a timeshare in the Brind'Amor era and made the playoffs. They also do not have a 2C, but 2 pretty good 3Cs. Their D corps has been really good over that time.

I think you could say the Wild have 2 2Cs and an above average goalie but a stellar defense. They have doubled down on that in the past and have had a very good run of top 4 defenders.

To make the playoffs, I think you can certainly have different combinations that don't fully fulfill those requirements. And, under the Guerin era, we have not had that combination, yet made the playoffs in 4/5 years.
