Outskated Verified Member
Brad Marchand is 5'8"/180. This a good pick in the 4th round. These players from the 4th round down have low chances of ever playing in the NHL. So, take a high skill, smaller player and see what happens is a decent 'risk'. Chances are he's 3-5 years away and you just don't know what's going to happen. Time will tell

Pewterschmidt Verified Member
Little bro is built like Shrek so he might be a fire hydrant out there, difficult to knock off the puck. 2nd to Milne as my favorite dark horse prospect
Enforceror Verified Member
I'm excited to see him play in the prospect tournament (if he does). Seems like this could have been a really good pick. Time will tell. Good luck kid... or better yet, make your own luck.
mnfaninnc Verified Member
Think with me for a moment. What if this kid has a growth spurt like Tyler Graovac did? Then what would we have? Some guys are just late growers. It would be nice if he hit a spurt and filled out. But if not, just bulk up and fill out. 5'8" 185 is still a pretty wide kid.

I was thinking the same. If he did add some height, it might take him an extra couple years to fully grow into the frame though. I saw speed mentioned more than once as an attribute of his, hopefully a growth spurt wouldn't diminish his wheels.
1Brotherbill Verified Member
Beginning to wonder if Guerin and Brackett even talk to each other. The GM, the person who makes the player decisions, doesn't like short undersized players. In fact the entire league doesn't like short undersized players. Brackett year after year picks people south of the 6 foot line. Some of the younger kids occasionally grow enough to break the 6 foot line but as a whole he drafts short skilled players that when they skate in St. Paul it looks comical. They don't talk I'm sure of it now.

He's a 4th round flyer with good skills. He probably will never make the show. But if he does and performs it is a huge win. i don't get these guys crying foul because the team took a no gamble flyer on a guy.
