Wildfan2k Verified Member
Just a thought here, but why haven’t we heard more discussions about trading injury prone Spurgeon? I have heard the “excuse” of locker room leader, still can handle it at his age…but let’s leave Minnesota nice at the curb for these two minutes of reason. If, and only IF, Rossi’s contract dispute is over a measly 1-1.5 mil difference in opinion, let’s find a way to keep the 23 year 60 point, 82 game played center, and let go of a 55ish game played aging D-man. If we (team brass) believe we can be good with our D-core minus Spurgeon, then let go of $7mil plus AAV.. maybe even swallowing 1-2 mil /yr to make it happen. Rossi is worth a long term deal at $7 mil/yr, as other similar point scorers have received recently. Unfortunately Spurgeon’s cap hit is not worth the $, given the constant injuries. Let’s make a business decision, and not a MN Nice business decision to help make this team better while we still have Kirill.
mnhockeyfan03 Verified Member
Spurgeon should be traded but won’t be more than a salary cap dump like a 4th round pick but still should be done. Brodin should also be moved. Let lambos step in and if need help have 13mm in cap space to fill the void. Sorry Rossi isn’t worth more than 2yrs and 4-4.5mm. When he signs that he will be traded. He is not going to be on the team long term. We can’t keep running back the same team every year and expecting different results. We need 4-5 big changes still to compete.
SkolWild73 Verified Member
Although the idea of trading Spurgeon and saving money might seem like a good idea, then what? With Brodin out to start the season, we are already going to be very young and inexperienced. I would say see how Lambos, Jiricek and Zeev do first and then see. It’s not like his play has dropped off much.

The goal is to win the cup and kit make the playoffs. The GM and ow er are trying to make fans drink the cool aid. We are so far off from being a cup contender so move the pieces to make us closer.
