So far mostly North Americans. Maybe the artist formerly known as Protec is right about Euros being soft..

I think it's true to an extent. Probably don't like dealing with visa, etc.

Lots of centers at the top this year.

I sure hope Billy has something big he is working on.  Boeser isn’t the answer and Rossi isn’t either.  This franchise has been afraid to take a big swing for 25 years and it’s gotten them no where.  If they fail to this summer it’s time to start cheering for a different team.  Mediocrity sucks.

Cake eater Mason West goes to CHI at 29th

Every time I go to a wedding or graduation party I’ll eat a slice, or two or three, of cake. There is nothing better than a good fondant frosting.

So we draft a 5'7 164 pound center?

After going through the Rossi saga....I have to ask. Why?

So they can groom him and invest in him till he becomes a legit nhl'er znd then trade him cause he's to small to be difference maker...

The Wild drafted an undersized center from the Czech Republic. Are Brackett and Guerin even on the same page? Guerin has been trash talking Rossi, yet Brackett drafts someone even smaller? This newest draft pick must be thrilled the Wild drafted him, now he can have the Rossi experience of a GM constantly complaining.

Wild not looking way better if you asked me.

Lost Fluery, traded Fred, Chisholm, and bringing back NoJo. All the good UFAs aren't interested in MN except Boeser who stinks defensively. No center help for Ek unless Guerin signs Dvorak who doesn't score much.

Draft is the biggest nothingburger since 2017 & 2018.

I dunno boys. Sure looks like another tough go in the Central with the same group pretty much.

In the last few seasons, Brackett and Guerin have gotten fatter. That's about the only thing I notice that aligns between them. They had a plan and we've heard all about it in the Wild propaganda campaign that coincides with their displeasure in little Euros who they drafted. Meanwhile keep NoJo who sucks and is easy to play against.

It does not make sense. It cannot make sense with their contradictory actions and statements. I think Cross-eyed Bill and Brackett are both eating and drinking too much. Their successes are wearing off from the initial transition. Their leverage with Kirill is cooked from OCL's bonehead comments and the team hasn't done much to show #97 that it's gonna happen in MN.

Pretty much no NHL teams need or want what MN has to offer. What Buffalo got for Peterka was better than MN's offer, obviously. Two NHL caliber players, both NA guys compared to the player they passed on five years ago in the first place.

The Wild's draft strategy and big picture plan appears to be all talk. Can't wait to hear the spin coming up in the next few weeks. I would not be surprised to see Kirill join fellow Novokuznetsk native Bobrovsky in FL for a Cup or two in the coming years. Guerin might have stopped the bleeding after Fenton, but hasn't done anything to change MN's reputation amongst players. If the young players don't emerge as studs,(Yurov, Ogie, Buium) this season. It's gonna be another season of overplaying the top guys and injuries. Calling it now.

Benak, despite being very small, was at least the top point getter on his USHL team.

Theodor Hallquisth is one of the younger players eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft, yet he got some playing time in Europe’s challenging Swedish Hockey League (SHL). The right-shot defenseman had notable performances against all different kinds of competition, whether they were his age or much older.

Quote

In the SHL, Hallquisth didn’t record a single point (or a penalty) across 12 games, and had a minus-2 rating. However, just playing in that league is impressive enough. Over the past five seasons, only nine defensemen played in at least a dozen games as a 17-year-old. Axel Sandin-Pellikka, a first-round selection in 2023, piled up the most points, with five.

Quote

Hallquisth is a two-way defenseman who shows flashes at both ends of the ice. Starting defensively, he has some intriguing shutdown qualities that likely contributed to him getting a chance in the SHL. One of his strengths is taking space away from opponents and forcing them into making hasty decisions. He possesses excellent vision, which allows him to be more assertive on the defensive side—he knows where his teammates are. Hallquisth has some decent stick skills, throws around his body, and his retrieval game is a net positive.

Puck-moving from the defensive zone is another area where Hallquisth excels. His IQ comes into play here, as he regularly makes the best decisions when moving the puck, even if those decisions aren’t obvious.

Hallquisth is a nice all-around package. He’s a solid skater, isn’t far from a pro-ready frame, is highly intelligent, can move the puck, and has an advanced defensive and physical game for his age. Though not one of the dynamic blueliners in the 2025 class, he’s certainly a good one.

Unlikely to see any of these guys on NHL ice in the next 4 seasons, but might have a couple guys hit after that. Hallquisth at least sounds like he has a shot.

Some will say he's not responsible for taking Joelevi or whatever his name was in Vancouver rather than M. Tkachuk.

Brackett has been a guru now for quite awhile. Still waiting on the justification for that title. I like when people tell me what to think despite what my eyes and brain are telling me.
