Coyle would be an upgrade over Fred.

Pageau and Coyle each are getting a little bit too old for a full solution but Guerin likes to bootstrap veterans into roles where ultimate high-level mediocrity can be achieved.

Neither.  My wish list over the next week.  We find a way to get Kyrou, Necas, Thompson or Barzal through Rossi, Ohgren and pics trade. Not a fan of Boeser at any cost but we need a RH shot for PP so the ones listed before fill that.  Trade Spurgeon to clear up 7.5mm of cap space.  Trade for Andre’s Lee to play 3C.  Sign Christian Dvorak for 2.5mm to play 4C.  Sign ehlers if between 7-7.5 or trade for Tuch. Get rid of Trenin or Hartman.  If anyway to fit in Rasmus Anderson do that.

Pageau is 5' 9", if that is Rossi's problem than Pageau has the same problem plus almost 10 years on him.

Coyle is a solid player but why would you trade for Coyle?  One would mean you are helping out a divisional rival with their salary cap issues and Colorado has some serious issues right now.  Two Coyle has a No Move Clause, so he if he doesn't want to be moved he can't be moved.  Being Minnesota traded him away at his prime I doubt he would say, sure I'll come back.  Three he has a better option to win a Cup with Colorado.  So, with his No Move Clause why would he leave.

The only way this would work is if they trade Rossi to Colorado for Coyle.  That would be a Herschel Walker type trade.

All you size kings getting turned on by the thought of a Moose - Pageau/Coyle - Trenin line?

Yes, except replace Trenin with Hartman. That's a GRITTY playoff 3rd line.

And addressing while getting rid of our centers.

Let's be honest here, Gaudreau was really a wing who could play center. He was also very undersized.

I agree with Tony that Coyle is the better option. Since CO needs cap relief, just like Vegas with Hertl, I would say the compensation really is cap relief, so a 5th-7th rounder in maybe 2028 should work.

Colorado isn't really worried about the return, they're far more worried about their cap space. It should be more like taking a player for free. We could use Coyle here and, really, never should have traded him.

Let's just say we go that route. I like the line of OgZ-Coyle-Foligno as our 3rd line. I think it's an upgrade. OgZ is immediately introduced to big boy hockey, where he should really develop. Coyle is an huge upgrade from Freddy. He's far more useful away from the puck and driving the net.

My conclusion is that Coyle should be brought back in. I do believe he enjoyed his time here and there's still a couple of players left from when he was here. I think he'd waive his NMC to come here.

Also, on a deal like this, I am not certain that Rossi is traded, I think they keep him. Coyle, however, does help out Ek.

Am I missing something? Can we acquire anyone under age 30? Stats tell me Pageau is another undersized center similar to the one Billy's trying to dump, and has little to no upside at 32 - unlike the 60 point scorer Billy is trying to dump. Coyle isn't a natural center, and at 33, his upside isn't getting any better. Does the organization have ZERO centermen in Iowa ready to step up? Or is Billy dead set on adding to his "veteran" lineup?

And then there was one...

FFFFFFF

Dean will love him 😞  this is probably his revenge for us trading his son Freddy to some other team instead of CBJ.

Well with the apparent lack of players available this offseason I do have one positive takeaway. Think of what the next two years would have looked like if the S&P cap hits were still on the books. I’m saying that because I can envision someone in those negotiations suggesting 15 year contracts would be awesome. At least we can keep KK and lock up our younger players.

Coyle and Tavares gone, not much left. Poor Billy, sitting on his hands after the handcuffs were finally removed.

Appears as though his hands have been more aggressive in the rear area than that. Probably working to get his head JUST RIGHT.

(really for Pewter)

Kind of neckbeard I'd expect to see in the frozen chicken tendies section at Wal-Mart. Elite Swedish slob. Matching laziness on the forecheck, backcheck, and shot-blocks.

But hey, he likes it in MN and is a veteran presence. Awesome, who cares he's usually minus twenty...
