Duchene staying in Dallas, so how's this "upgrade at center" thing working out so far?

They are running out of options, that is for sure.  I am trying to figure out who Dallas is going to trade.  They have less than $500,000 in cap space and still need to sign 5 more players.  Most of their high-priced players have no movement or no trade clauses and I don't see them moving Johnston or Harley.  That would leave Marchment,  Robertson or Oettinger to move on from.

Dumba is definitely on borrowed time in Dallas

I would say no question he is gone, but they would still need to move at least one more player.

And if they move him, they need to replace him, so it doesn't really give them that much extra.

Marchment also doesn't gain them enough overall unless they are planning to fill out their roster with AHLers and hope no one gets injured.

Harley and Robertson are both up for new contracts next year and will be seeking raises.  I realize the cap is going up, but it means this problem isn't going away until Seguin's contract is done if they try to keep all their more talented players.

I agree, I really don't see Harley being the one they get rid of.  I think it's Robertson.  Moving Oettinger means they'd need to get another starting goalie, so it doesn't free up as much as it would seem.  Moving Marchment and Dumba could be enough to get them by, but it still would make things really tight for next year too when Harley and Robertson need to be re-signed.

I think Jiricek will make the roster and shine. I think he was a couple of days away from getting called up and would have played in the playoffs until he had a season ending injury.

I think Andy Ness works hard with him this summer and he'll look like a far better skater. Bigger guys take longer to get their feet back under them. He can still use some strength, IMO. The thing I do like about him is he is a willing defender and he can play mean.

Jirizy had spleen surgery in March timeframe.  What's the recovery period for something like that?  3 mo.? 6 mo.?  How soon can he be back on the ice practicing?

Who's going to take him off their hands? They will need to be bribed to do so.

At only 30 years old and one year left on his contract for under 4M, I am sure they could find someone, they just will not get back much in return.

Practicing may be a long shot right now, but skating and rehabbing is probably happening. I would think that Ness works on drills that don't require fully suiting up. I'd also think that shooting slappers right now might not work.

He's a shell of himself. He had 10 points last season. How much is $3.75m worth of cap room on the open market these days? For instance, Mr. Dead Cat Bounce had 16 points and played in 81 games for 1/3rd of the price.

So same numbers  he put up in Arizona before Dallas signed him last offseason and played him over 25 minutes a game

He should be full go by now. 4-8 weeks is listed as the typical recovery time.

He could already be back to training with Ness regularly.

Dumba and Lyubushkin are the obvious targets. They would clear $7mil in cap space but have to find someone to take them. And if they did, that would leave them with 8 fwds, 4 def and 2 goalies on the active roster. Is $12mil enough to sign up to 9 players and be competitive? That will be tough, even with a few ELC players.

Agreed.  That’s why I still think they will get rid of Robertson

I think their fanbase wants Seguin traded. Huge contract and hasn't been living up to it the last couple years.
