High end talent rarely, if ever CHOOSES to come here.  I doubt that starts now.

Unfortunately quite true.  You have to have a team on the precipice of a cup to entice the very best ... or a desirable location.

We have $16M in cap space.  Florida is projected to have $19M.  Wild are going to have a difficult time attracking high end talent.

I like reading these articles that are "So-and-so is a perfect fit for the Wild" but lets be honest,  the Wild never get the guy that is a perfect fit.  We are not looking for the perfect fit, we are looking for an 34 year old mediocre  guy with more grit than a can of Ajax.

It will be interesting to see what Florida does with their 19M.  They only have 16 players, so need 6 more and have to decide on Ekblad and Bennet, and a couple more free agents.  If they sign both Ekblad and Bennett, that will probably use up most of that 19M.

and still have plenty of space left to extend Kirill Kaprizov and shore up any bottom-of-the-lineup deficiencies

This line tickled me a bit. If anyone has overstocked the bottom of the lineup players, it's us.

After reading Robert's article, I'm convinced that this would be a great fit for Tavares. Could Guerin and Heinzy guarantee him playing with Kaprizov? Boldy-Tavares-Kaprizov....I'm just letting it sink in for a few minutes.

How does this help with our 2nd line? Well, Ek is a top 2nd line C. Could we kick Rossi out to the wing? Could we see a Yurov-Ek-Rossi 2nd line? Could that be a viable 2nd line? Or, do we switch OgZ for Yurov and have Yurov center the 3rd line?

Adding a Tavares seems to put all the other guys more into their intended roles. Could you flip a Rossi for a scoring wing? Why not try him there first and see if he puts up Granny numbers on the wing?

What would it take for Tavares to choose us? Sometimes, with an older player like Tavares, fit might be high on his list. Playing with Kaprizov might also be on his list. Being the #1C again might also be something he desires.

As others have stated he’s probably not going to be available. The chances of him choosing MN are slim. That being said stranger things have happened. I think he’d be a nice addition especially on a three year deal. This is a really weird offseason with the lack of available players or teams selling. I guess I should be happy that we’ll have money to keep our best player but it feels underwhelming.

Rossi for Peterka definitely makes more sense if they add Tavares.
