I think Rossi is skilled enough to be a ppg player. But is he strong enough to help us in the playoffs? Much of that depends on his wings.

But, I do not see Rossi as the problem here. I see Zuccarello as the problem. You can have a couple of undersized players, but not a lot of them. Zuccarello is undersized, and Freddy is too. But Rossi should be the one to keep unless you can parlay him into something better that the team needs.

Zucc plays a very spirited game. He is feisty despite his size and while he isn't going to be overpowering anyone, he doesn't let his size dissuade him from puck battles. Guerin's "soft skill" statement told me that it isn't Rossi's size (Zuccarello is also small), it's his play style. To Rossi's credit, he does hang in some of the tough areas but it seems like instead of battling for space, he's trying to just maintain position as he gets pushed around.

Since we're (per Guerin) possibly looking for a scoring winger, let's move Rossi to wing and let Zuccarello teach him to play his style.

I don't think work harder is what people are saying, at least I'm not saying it. Work focused maybe, but I think we can all conclude the kid is a hard worker. Strength, not conditioning is what I've focused on. Better in the dot, stronger edges and the explosive acceleration and shiftiness he lost the 2nd half of the season needs to be there.

The way he played he looked closer, to me, to be 185, but he just needs more strength mass. For comparison, it took Ek 2 offseasons to completely come in as a beast. To me, Rossi didn't look much stronger in the first half of the season, he looked like he got to play with more skilled players. I also don't mind a resigning of him, but he's out of his mind thinking that he's at a level where Boldy signed his 7 x $7m contract.

It isn't a matter if he is at a level of Boldy's contract.  He is at a level that will pay him at 7 million a year in todays NHL.

Watch Bennett's goal from tonight. North American hockey all the way. Smokes the lazy EDM player with a bodycheck, helps loosen up the puck and steals it from rattled EDM player who tries to make cute play. Ends up on 2v0 and buries the breakaway to keep lead in playoff goals at 14 now.

Just can't overstate the value of gutsy NA style players in the playoffs. That's why Hartman, Trenin, and Foligno are good ones to have in the post-season despite being the ire of fans all regular season.

Zuccy, Rossi, and even Kirill were not getting the job done when the playoffs start. MN needs guts, heart, never back down, find a way players...

A lot of teams have a lot of money and the Free Agent market is weak.  So, Rossi at 7 million is probably going to happen.

Agree.  And since thin skin bill has decided he's done with Rossi I predict he gets traded ahead of the offer sheet window.  a 1st and 3rd would be a FAIL by tsb, and he knows that, so I believe he's working the phones hard to drum up competing offers.  Trade should get announced in June and we find out who is going to pay Rossi $7M

Didn’t I guess he would get $7M?

That's right. We'll have to resurrect the old thread where P-can drummed up some Rossi guesses. I think I was around 6.5 if I remember right.

I don't really think that BG is done with Marco.  He has an asset who has to play for the Wild.  He can use that asset to get a better player or two.  He can also use that asset to get three picks.  Or he could sign that asset to a contract that is 7 million a year.  In order for it to work BG has to make it look like he is dissatisfied at Marco in his size and his demands.

The 7 million contract might look terrible today.  But July 1st it looks less terrible and every July 1st for the next three or four years it will look less so.
