Article: God Help Me, I Kinda Want The Stars To Win the Stanley Cup

I agree with pretty much everything you say. I like the way the Stars are built and agree they are a model for how the Wild can succeed. The only other reason to root for them is Pete DeBoer. He's a great coach and really schooled Dean Evason in the first round a couple years ago. I actually picked Dallas to win their series against Edmonton, but if they don't find another level they're cooked. Apart from the third period in game 1, Edmonton has outplayed them the entire series. And I'd be totally fine with Edmonton hoisting the Cup.

He was Ek's size and Guerin got desperate.

Quite possibly true but I'm going to shinny out on a branch and say that he hits as a 3rd liner. Hopefully within the next 3 years. This is with zero eye test, just a hopeful fan. You think Bankier can get there first? He doesn't have the size but I feel he has more skill.

If Rossi's departure is truly due to size, what are we going to do with Heidt if he hits?

So, the rumor for Reinbacher, are they quoting Kalisha?

Looking at what Guerin likes, I'm thinking Kirby Dach + '26 draft ammo. Dach would fill a whole and has yet to break out offensively. He fulfills what Guerin has said: Someone who can help Ek, comes from the right side and is 24 with a 6'4" 225 lb. frame.

While he doesn't replace Rossi in the skill area, he does fill a void. I could certainly see bringing Brock Nelson in, letting Yurov play center but Nelson take draws, and going with an Ek-Nelson-Dach down the middle trio. Those are the things that Guerin finds important. Would that help us? I think it does come playoff time assuming good health.

Dach is older, more injury-prone, and has stunk out loud for two teams. No thx

I tend to cheer for the teams that have home grown Minnesota boys on it.  Jackson Blake with the Canes played for Eden Prairie and his dad Jason Blake was a Moorhead product.  So I have to go for the Canes.  I do like Ottinger.  Why does he have to play for Dallas.

I have the utmost respect for Jim Nill. His acumen makes Guerin look like a confused toddler. I also respect DeBoer, at least for his game prep and strategy. He's out coached several teams in recent playoff years. He does have a stocked cupboard to work with, however, so it would be interesting to see what he could get out of a mediocre team.

Other than that, no, Dallas can suck it. Go Edmonton.

Got to see close up video of  him at the prospect thing shot by a friend. He was very aggressive and destroyed some other forwards. He is going to play in the NHL 100%,  probably as a 3rd or 4th line defensive shut down guy.

I'll take it. If he can do a Foligno imitation I'll be satisfied.

I'm still going with Florida now.  Just for the chaos of it with all the people complaining about the tax breaks that the Panthers get.

As far as Dallas, I hate the team, the organization, especially the fans.  When you watch their home games you can cut the arrogance with a knife.  Makes you want take a shower after you watch the game it is such a bad feeling.

However, I do have to give them props in the fact that they find the diamonds every draft.  Are able to trade for vast improvements in a already stacked lineup.  They fire coaches and get better ones.  Their GM doesn't want to fight reporters because the reports have no awkward questions for him because he is winning every organizational decision.

Remember Stankoven who is still considered a rookie with over 100 games in to his career.  He would be a star on the Wild's roster and they traded him away for an upgrade in Rantanen.

There is some voodoo magic going on in that organization.  I don't know if I would like if the Wild got the same voodoo magic or not.  The whole, Minnesota has to do it our way or now way, mentality is always strong.

100% I can’t believe they’re in the middle of a reload on the fly as well. They have done a fantastic job of integrating players on ELC’s seamlessly, playing them right alongside the vets. They must have one of the best scouting groups in the NHL. Ever since Pete D. Jedi mind tricked the Refs in our last go around with them I haven’t liked their team. Probably not a real mature take on my part but there it is. I’m hoping for an Oilers win tonight I want McD to win a SC.
