Article: How Long Will It Take For Danila Yurov To Adjust To the NHL?

I wonder if these quotes were said through a translator? If not, he's got a pretty good handle on the English language.

I think acclimation will be smoother than we think. I can't help but go back to watching him on the draft platform where I'm convinced he was taking names of teams that had passed on him from where he thought he should go. I think we've got a real motivated player here who will excel quickly.

But, unless he gets put on the top line, I think his goals will be around 15 in year 1.

Someone posted a chart of all the KHL guys that have come over from Russia.

At best we can hope for 0.75 ppg and realistically its more like 0.40 ppg.

Its gonna be a couple years

.75 PPG is definitely tough. That would put someone around the top 100 forwards in the league many seasons.

50 points would be a really strong first NHL season, but I'm not going to suggest it's impossible for him to reach 60 in a full healthy season.

14-24 goals and 24-40 assists could be a really solid first year at age 21 to begin the season. Hopefully not at the low end on both. A defensively solid 15 goals and 25 assists would still be an upgrade from Johansson, but expectations are certainly set higher than that for Yurov.

Really excited to see this kid play. Pretty obvious with the contract that he signed that he is aware of the Minnesota Wild's questionable handling of top prospects in certain cases. Even though he may say different, don't expect to see him making many trips on I-35 between St. Paul and Des Moines; he'll be on a plane back to the Motherland if he doesn't feel he is being treated fairly.

Other articles have indicated that his English is fairly good. I expect that will not be an issue for him.

Point production isn’t going to to tell me a lot, especially the first half of the season.

He’ll probably be playing relatively light third line minutes, in a role where scoring is the #1 priority.  For a while, anyway.

If he’s not looking physically overmatched, winning some puck battles, making good decisions with the puck, etc., I’ll be encouraged.  I don’t think he comes over and starts filling up the scoresheet.  Especially not with guys like Foligno, Gaudreau, Hartman, etc.

I've only heard him once, thick Russian accent but has a good grasp on the English language.

Looking forward to Yorovzy’s arrival.  He’s currently the highest ranked can’t miss Brackett prospect.  If he shows up as a middle sixer and Ogz (if not traded) evolves into middle sixer next season I’ll cut Brackett some slack.

2020 Rossi (traded soon?), khuz (gone)

2021 Wall-e(?), Lambos (?)

2022 ogz (gone this summer?), D Yu (no pressure bro)

2023 Stramel (if he doesn’t wear skate guards for his rookie skate fans will rejoice.  Expectations low), Rasmu Kampu (see Stramel)

Don’t believe the hockey beat writer click bait.  Judd is a pudd

I think this is a real good estimate, the assists will be determined by the quality of his linemates. For instance, if he's on a line with Moose and Hartzy, I think the assist number may be lower. If it's with Boldy and Rossi, it'll probably be pretty good, maybe even higher.

This is a very pessimistic look at where we're really at. I think OgZ is ahead of schedule if he makes next season's roster. His body is solid and he can play a heavier role. He's a dirty work type of player much like Nino. I still think his hands and stick need some quickness, he seems too deliberate to me, and he's got to snap that shot off faster consistently.

Yurov is going to be good. Looking at the '22 draft, not many players have made it yet, full time. Most have had a cup of coffee. Only 3 guys have over 100 games and nobody has reached 50 goals yet. It's just too soon. I think he'll end up being 5th in points in that draft class when his ELC is over. But, I think he'll be probably top 2 in 200' game.

I don't see Judd as a huge problem, I see the Guerin/Judd visions as a problem, and Judd's got to conform to how Guerin wants this team built. In 2025, we've got pretty much nothing coming from this draft, and that's ok. Jiricek is this year's draft pick and almost ready. Judd's got to pivot now and start finding larger players who can improve. This is a problem for him because he looks for smooth skating and puckhandling. The larger guys are still recovering from their growth spurts and probably look a little clumsy. He's got to see through that. But, if you look at his history of picks from Vancouver, he also took smaller, lighter players over the heavy guys.

I wouldn't mind making a change here, but the main issue is the 2nd part of the equation: who then runs the draft board? When we see GMs getting replaced, that's where we can grab a draft guy. The longer Guerin is in his spot, the more he should be upgrading his staff from staff's of GMs who have been fired. He still needs to upgrade, and I'd be in favor of that. It looks like Toronto is blowing things up, but I'm not sure I like their draft guys either. Anyone else?
