Scalptrash Verified Member
Sounds like a good young man. Hopefully he lives up to the hype. And hopefully the Wild treat him better than Marat and Rossi!
mnfaninnc Verified Member
I wonder if these quotes were said through a translator? If not, he's got a pretty good handle on the English language. I think acclimation will be smoother than we think. I can't help but go back to watching him on the draft platform where I'm convinced he was taking names of teams that had passed on him from where he thought he should go. I think we've got a real motivated player here who will excel quickly. But, unless he gets put on the top line, I think his goals will be around 15 in year 1. Daraincher Verified Member
Someone posted a chart of all the KHL guys that have come over from Russia. At best we can hope for 0.75 ppg and realistically its more like 0.40 ppg. Its gonna be a couple years

Its gonna be a couple years .75 PPG is definitely tough. That would put someone around the top 100 forwards in the league many seasons. 50 points would be a really strong first NHL season, but I'm not going to suggest it's impossible for him to reach 60 in a full healthy season. 14-24 goals and 24-40 assists could be a really solid first year at age 21 to begin the season. Hopefully not at the low end on both. A defensively solid 15 goals and 25 assists would still be an upgrade from Johansson, but expectations are certainly set higher than that for Yurov. ArizonaWildFan Verified Member
Really excited to see this kid play. Pretty obvious with the contract that he signed that he is aware of the Minnesota Wild's questionable handling of top prospects in certain cases. Even though he may say different, don't expect to see him making many trips on I-35 between St. Paul and Des Moines; he'll be on a plane back to the Motherland if he doesn't feel he is being treated fairly.
