Guerin would have to be capable of making this happen, so we already know it won't. The Wild don't have enough early picks left in the cupboard for Billy to throw in for free (if only they still had that 2nd...). I like the idea and optimism though!

I really like Guenther but it would take Rossi, Ohgren and some picks.  We also need more top 6 forwards.  Zucc is not a top 6 player on a contending team and shouldn’t sniff the PP.  we need a true 1C not Yurov there. We need to free up cap space for these top 6 forwards by moving Spurgeon or Faber.  All the top teams are winning with offense and we have none.  Faber is our biggest chip.  We need 3 new top 6 forward in addition to Yurov.  We need Offense!!!

Anyway we can trade Trenin and/or Spurg. They got game yet but we need to use younger options.

Would we love to have him?  Of course.  Will Utah trade a player that just scored 60 points, just turned 22, and they just signed to an 8 year extension for just over 7M annually in September?  Almost certainly not.

Nice pipe-dream but will not work - just because other teams are not stupid. But you're right: Utah would be a great fit for Rossis playing style and Tourigny loves him.

This is one of the better articles from this author, particularly with Rossi's tie to the current Utah coach being highlighted. Ohgren would likely need to be part of the deal. Looks like that was assumed when looking at the lines.

Guenther is a little better asset than Rossi(both totaling 60 points, but only 70 games for Guenther and he's both bigger/younger), but adding another forward like Ohgren for a developing team might get Utah to the negotiating table.

Looks like Guenther had an undisclosed injury that has caused him to miss the 2025 IIHF World Championship, per Utah Hockey Club Insider Craig Morgan. Obviously would need to check into that, but seems worth considering.

Funny. A guy with 45 goals and 100 points in the last 2 seasons needs a "jumpstart" to his career. In that case, I wonder where he'd be if he was already jump-started.

The problem is: you just can't get everything you dream of. Getting 3 new top forwards for spurg or faber cannot happen, given the cap space plus the need for new contracts for Gus (or another top goaltender that provides a chance to contend for SC = 8 M AAV) and KK 15 M in 2026 ff. 

The maximum the Wild can achieve is adding 2 great F by giving up on Rossi (which could be fine for both sides), and hoping Yurov and Ohgren deliver. Never ever ship out Faber. He is a cornerstone, together with Brodin, Mid, Buium, Spurgeon, Jiri.

Better suggestion of a couple good players MN could really use but not very realistic. That's kinda the AI tell if you asked me. 

Guenther is Utah's Boldy. Trade for Rossi and the random trade Spurge seems as unlikely as signing Bennett. Gotta train the chatbots better.

If you ship out Faber or Spurgeon you have the cap space to get 3 new top 6 guys.  Both are overrated and overpaid.  They can’t clear out the front of the net in the playoffs.  This team needs offense and all the good remaining playoff teams have that.  And no you don’t ever spend that much on a goalie.  Look at what Edmonton is doing with their crappy goalies.  They have offense and just made Vegas look bad.  Our team isn’t as close as we may think and as Vegas isn’t as good as we thought.

I might be wrong with the need of a 8 M value goaltender but did any of the SC-winners of the last 20 years win without one? EDM obviously didn't. Billington/STL comes in mind to be honest but seems to be against the odds. To build on solid, deep defence and goaltending was and is always a clever plan. Look at TOR and EDM. They didn't win anything with their offensive superstars. CAR now and STL, VEG make/made it with depth and great goaltending and solid defence. Thats the recipee for success.

If they were absolutely going to trade him I wouldn’t mind Guenther coming back at all but it’s not going to happen. They really like Guenther and he’s going to be a really really good player in my opinion. They already have Cooley as a C and he’s 5’10. They aren’t going to want to have their first and second line C at 5’10 and 5’9. wouldn’t make any sense.
