I mean, Bennett is probably an upgrade over Nelson, but there's no way in hell he takes $5.5m.

I’m sure GMBG will find a way to overpay.

The Wild already have a Sam Bennett, his name is Ryan Hartman $4M. They are almost clones. Sam has a very slight edge in scoring over his career and is two years younger, but it's so close that Hartman looks like a steal for the same player.

Anyway, it's pretty much a done deal that Brock Nelson will be joining the Wild this summer. He and Billy have been seen together already this spring. He fits the bill perfectly. Old, downslope veteran that Billy can overpay to finish his career in flyover country.

I have no clue if it's actually true, but they supposedly played golf with each other recently. Idk who would start such a meaningless rumor, but it is what it is.

I'm not opposed to Bennett.

Article here suggests a fit (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/25194452-surprise-landing-spots-top-2025-nhl-free-agents)

I'd be for Rossi + Faber + Ohgren + 1st for Brady T. as well.   Would give our top 6 a new look.

I like it! And above scenario should work $ wise too as Rossi $ are shipped out.

D will be fine ! Jiri and Zeev and our surplus of fine D prospect studs

ek Kap Tkachuk Bennett Boldy yurov Foligno Harty (Nelson for league min)

no need to play D w that lineup

Now we are talking.  Hopefully Billy has the creativity to get this done if he wants to compete for a cup.  Dallas is going to be hard to beat for years and we need lots of offense.  People need to realize we don’t need Faber.  He is our chip to get a big fish.  We need offense and lots of it and he is our way to get that.

Guerin said he wanted to work on the Forwards in the off season.  79 free agent forwards across all teams.  40 free agents under the age of 30.  15 free agents who made over 2 million dollars last year.  Of those 15, Nico Sturm, Ryan Donato, and Luke Kunin are part of that group.  Sam Bennet comes in at number 8 on this list at 4.425 million a year.

Now lets take into account that 19 other teams have more money to spend than Minnesota does and a good number of those teams have one or two free agents.

Sam Bennet is going to get a significant pay raise this summer and I doubt the Wild will catch on to the fact that contracts will be going up over the next few years and will low ball his offer.  His contract is probably going to be in the 7 million range.

Good news is when next summer roles around the horrible contracts everyone complains about that the Wild have signed over the past few years will look very good as far as pay goes.

I like this trade for Brady.  Also it seems that Vegas is not near as good as we thought so our competitive first round may not have meant much.  Edmonton is outplaying them badly and Dallas looks to be a threat for many years.  We have to get a lot better forwards to compete.  Need big fish and Faber is the chip to get us it.
